flying to Doha

I've just been informed by Qatar Airways that they charge £25 sterling for every kilo over the 20KG limit. moving to Qatar this friday from Heathrow and reackon I'm about 10kg over. are they likely to enforce this?
Oh! and their ground staff will probably be surly and curt about your over weight"age" when you check in. In my experience they may also enforce the 1 pc of carry on luggage (while 70+ other passengers embark with 2 - 3 pcs)- however, this seems to be aimed only at persons of colour. (I'm as white as the belly of a dead fish, but I've experienced this treatment as well) However, of the 200 or so passengers on my LAST EVER QR flight, the only ones who were stopped at the boarding gate were of colour. the 70+ people allowed to board the same flight with 2 or 3 pcs of carry on luggage (few had duty free) were all white/European.
You can "bank" on it. That's why I fly Emirates. They allow you 30kgs per bag and on transatlantic flights you're allowed 2 pcs of checked baggage.
Don't know about out of UK - Qatar Airways says they only allow 2 checked bags on transatlantic flights, I flew with them (for the last time ever) to Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos - the flight back to Qatar is 8 hours (direct no stops) - it doesn't take that long to fly to Canada from London, yet I was only allowed 1 pc 20kgs. Go figure.
I will NEVER EVER fly with Qatar Airways again. I welcome the stopover at DXB if only to have a decent airport and facilities to wait in.
Afraid so.
Yeah... they are strict about excess weights.
Yes They Might. Check out at Check in who is most likely to let additional luggage go through without paying. Lat time I flew, I had 20 Kg overweight and I didn't pay anything for it.
