Evaluation .... almost but not quite
By Ms.Chief_vous •
A friend asked me what my views are on the following queries:
- Does an employee have the right to see the evaluation form/ appraisal made by his/her immediate superior (i.e. Manager)?
- what's the best move to do if you believe that you’ve been understated and inaccurately assessed?
... i was caught off-guard as i know just little about my friends current company. She was a former colleague, transferred company & has been there for 3years. I've seen how professional she works during her tenure in our company & was given excellent performance review by our Manager...
Advice me please... help me help my friend with this...
Thanks QLers!!!
MD, she told me that she has'nt signed it yet. I asked her why, because its below her expectation.
QS, really she told me details and it seemed that she was "understimated". Subjective as it may be, i guess i'll just include your views (MD & QS)...
Thanks so much & i'll relay ur suggestions (QS).. ^_^
Sure you have to see the result of the evaluation. Otherwise it even doesn’t make sense. If there are some areas in your work that have to be improved, you must be aware of it, right?
As for being underestimated, usually we all tend to feel that we are better than other see us, especially when it comes to the evaluation at work. So this is a bit subjective and you cannot really do anything about it.
But if you completely disagree with the result, you have 3 options: leave it as it is; speak to your manager (be careful here, the consequences might be crucial); or just start looking for another job...
"Normally" you are asked to acknowledge and sign any appraisal or observation on you. In a decent company you are also asked if you want to change wordings.
