Do uk mobile phone networks work in Qatar
Hello
I'm moving to Qatar in the next few months. I need to replace the mobile phone I use here in the uk and am considering entering into a 12/18 month contract with a uk network provider. I just wondered whether, if I were to sign up with O2 or Vodafone, for example, the phone would work well and economically in Qatar? Is there a particular network provider that I can sign-up with in the uk that will transfer well to Qatar or would pay-as-you-go be the best option?
Thanks very much
Thank you all very much for your help. It sounds as though the best thing to do is to wait till I'm in Qatar.
Thanks again
well recently i have bought a mobile phone from UK and now i am living in Qatar for few days and it is working nicely their and i am running some tv channels on it and i am very happy from its results.
I moved her from the Uk a year ago. When I first came, I had a UK mobile (Three Mobile) and I got a GBP 400 bill for roaming!!!
Hala Sim card is QAR 50 (including QAR 25 credit)- Hala calls are cheap as chips - get a phone that will allow whatsapp for free text messages over wireless too!
If you bring a handset from the UK, make sure its chipped.
Hope this helps!

Are you moving here? If so you will need your phone to be unlocked in order to use a Qatar SIM here. Best buy a phone that is unlocked or can be unlocked.
ClaireS, If you do buy a phone from the UK, make sure its a 4 band width and the one the comapnies that do 4 band width phones in Carephone ware house. Please make sure that you have 4 band width phone if you want to use a SIM for Qatar. If you need more information please do not hesitate to contact me..:)
