As per my research by going through the discussion on different forums and everyday classified on gulf-times.com. Currently living expense in Doha is as under: -

* Accomodation(one bedroom+kitchen+hall)-- 3500 QR/month
* Food (if you cook at home) --- 1000 QR/month
* Car loan installment and fuel --- 2000 QR/month
* Miscellaneous Expenses --- 1500 QR/month

Please confirm that the above mentioned breakups of living expense is correct and if not please negate put forward your the breakups as per your experience (for only those who do not unnecessarily run after luxuries).

* SIMPLE LIVING & HIGH THINKING......

Regards,

Sobu!

So what can I expect for an Adult and 2 children 9 and 12 years old for groceries; rent; school fees; bus fare etc.?

The cost of living for every person depends on the way of living style of the person. If the person requires just the basic necessities to be full filled then the cost wouldn't be much high, but as the luxury factor increases the cost also increases. So, the cost of living for a person would differ from person to person.

I presume, 6500/- for House rent (decent 2 bed)+ 2500/- car & fuel expenses,+ 2000/- for Groceries & Food + 2500/- for school fees + 2500/- for entertainment + 1000/- for insurances etc etc. = 17,000/- will be ok for a reasonable quality of life. What say folks as I'm moving to Doha mid march 2010..any comments are welcome..

I take that you are single, because for family the number will be higher ie. for school.

Have you factor in the cost of settling in ? All the deposit for water, electricity, phone, furnitures, driving school etc could be fairly high.

People differ,without even running after luxuries,in their tastes and expenses.Choices of where and how to live and what to drive are not luxuries.
