I have been telling my friends who are going home for the summer to book tickets via online as it is much cheaper than booking via travel agency. What say you?

It's always cheaper to go online. Travel agents are always trying to get to go the most expensive way, plus their service fees. You can save a lot of money by going to sites like expedia.com or expedia.ca, shop and compare prices, pick the best times. If you use a travel agent, you have to go physically there, stay at home, save money and be comfortable.

Travel agencies are in dire financial trouble. People save so much money going online, soon it will be be very difficult to even find a travel agent. Thomas Cook travel as an example, is in dire financial trouble because of the move online.

So join the real world, get your tickets online.

I always book on qatarairways.com.

I compared many times with the travel agencies and they charge 5% service fees on top of the price you find on qatarairways.com.

It’s also much more convenient for me to book online rather than trying to find parking close to an agency.

The fare and tax are the same, but most agencies have to charge a government imposed fee on top, so almost always it's cheaper online.
