My car license will expire only in March. Can I renew the license now already and if so will the effective date be the date of renewal or the expiry date of the old one?

Almost everybody in Qatar renews it late.
It's better to wait until March otherwise you will loose 2 months.
If you have to travel for example you could get an extended period to renew it, you have only to justify by passport stamp or boarding pass ....
Why do you renew it now? Are you going on holidays? Please note that you have 30 days grace period to renew the road permit. If you do it now you will loose 2 months and if you do it in April you will gain that time.
mohd27 is absolutely right, not only you will lose 2 months on registration card you will also lose your 2 months insurance.

if u renew it today...it will expire on 13 Jan 2010
