Can a woman sponsor her husband?
Hi,
Myself and my wife (to be) want to relocate to Qatar but have a few things we need to clear up first.
She is a teacher and is applying for a vacancy at Dukhan English School, she was going to apply (hopefully successfully) and move out there with me as her husband as we will be just married then. I was going to seek employment when we got there.
When she has spoken to the agency in england about the vacancy they have stated that this could not happen as she could not "sponsor" me, and that I would need guaranteed employment first.
Anyone else had a similar situation??!!?
Thanks in advance
I wish i could have sponsor my husband coz he has his UPPER HAND on me..And i just dont like this...lol
rock_111 is definitely wrong, since I'm sponsored by my wife!
It depends on 2 things:
1. Salary bracket - if your wife's salary is above the minimum required to sponsor a family.... AND...
2. Your wife's contract - the contract should state that the sponsor will allow her to sponsor her family (with some caveats)
For example, I have a female friend whose salary is above the minimum required to sponsor a family. Her contract also states that the sponsor will allow her to sponsor her family for a family residence visa.
HOWEVER there is a caveat. The contract also states that if her husband gets employed in Qatar, some of her benefits will be discontinued (family medical, plane tickets for her family, accommodation, education benefits for her kids.. etc.)
It is stated in her contract that it is assumed that the husband is the MAIN provider so these benefits are presumed enjoyed in the husband's employer.
she can sponsor you.. one of my friend is under a family visa sponsored by his wife.. just consult a "visa expert" or MOI..
The answer is no, a wife cannot sponsor his husband because migration rule prohibits. It's better to come here with your wife on a business visa and search for an employment.
Lots of discussion on QL about this already. Do a quick search.
But in general, some woman have successfully sponsored their husbands, others haven't. It depends on the governments current policy (which seems to change all the time) and also on the woman's job, nationality and salary. Teachers and nurses have more luck.
It took us several months and lots of begging. But I think it's got easier since then. It's worth coming out here with your wife, on a tourist visa. You can then do visa runs until she successfully sponsors you or you find a job here. See if your wife's company will get a business visa for you. This will cut down the number of visa runs you have to do.
