Calling cards for mobile/fixed-line phones
By chocaholic •
Hi, are (phone) calling cards available here?
These are cards that you buy in certain denominations to use for phone calls abroad - some for use from fixed-line phones, some from mobiles.
(Usually, there are different cards with the most economic rates for different sets of countries.)
I've checked at Carrefour, but they just gave me a blank stare :)
Thanks!
Thanks for the tech history lesson, Chancellor, but I was looking for a response to a real-life query :)
calling cards :- A telephone card, calling card or phone card for short, is a small plastic card, sized and shaped like a credit card, used to pay for telephone services. Standard cards which can be purchased and used without any sort of account facility give a fixed amount of credit and are discarded when used up;
fixed-line phones :- A landline (or land line) was originally an overland telegraph wire,[1] as opposed to an undersea cable. landline refers to a telephone line which travels through a solid medium, either metal wire or optical fibre, as distinguished from a mobile cellular line, where transmission is via radio waves
Mobiles :- is an electronic device used to make mobile telephone calls across a wide geographic area. Mobile phones are different from cordless telephones, which only offer telephone service within a limited range of a fixed land line, for example within a home or an office.
