i am purchasing a vehicle which has 3rd party insurance. Can i pay to upgrade the existing policy to comprehensive or do i have to take out a new policy? Any latest info on insurance providers and current rates
its a 2008 Nissan X Terra. I had initially thought i could get the insurance included within the loan however this wasnt the case and therefore havent budgeted for the few thousand riyals required to take out a fully comp policy.
if i can upgrade the existing 3rd party policy i hope it will be cheaper. any thoughts on what the difference may be??
Ive had a few quotes for a new policy which range from 4.5% to 6.5% of the car value, for info.
Most insurance companies are quite pissed off because the govt. has capped the third party insurance premium. That is why most of them are resorting to pressure tactics like renewing/issuing only limited number of insurance policies per day.
QIC has even gone to the extent of shifting their insurance office to some remote location in the industrial area .. primarily because they want to dissuade customers .. sounds crazy ?? Well, because of the # of accidents, they are actually losing more by insuring more people.
Upgrading to first party/comprehensive insurance is going to be very difficult if the car is more than 3 years old.
Yes, you can always do it, go to the same Insurance company with the car, your id and car istimara copy, you will have to pay the diffrence, they will inspect the car physically to know that the car in good condition
