Just wonder..are Karwa Buses for men only?I have never seen any women inside and thus myself never decided to use them. The fare is cheap though seems it is not for women. Why?
OmLayla, I haven't YET seen a baby pram on a bus, but it doesn't mean that they aren't permitted, although space is limited. If your baby is very small maybe you could use a carrying sling (papoose) for the journey, especially if you take a long-distance trip to the far north tip, or western coast. I travelled around the world with my youngest this way ;-)
OmL, I think the Mowasalat site is temporarily down. If you Google "Mowasalat" you will get the link above (or copy and paste into your browser). Best of luck!!
The link for mowsalat doesn't work for some reasons:(
As for getting on the bus alone I only wanted to know if there are any things I should be aware of but seems there is no problem at all.And the final question(I hope). Are these buses adjusted to get on with the baby pram?
OmLayla, no problem getting bus alone as a female. Some might find it daunting waiting at the public Bus Station amongst so many men but it's never troubled me.
I am female and often take the local buses!! I find the ride quite comfortable and it's a great way to meet people. Front rows are reserved for females/families. Frankly, I don't know why more Westerners don't avail themselves of this service.
Hi I am a female Australian living in Qatar for the last 2 and a half years myself and my friend use the buses admittedly I have never seen any other ladies on them...We get bus 76 from City Centre to the Gold Souks/Islamic Centre and bus 57 to Alahli Hospital....and are presently looking into using other routes...Some bus drivers ask the men to move back and we sit in the front seats.

I have seen lot of Ladies travelling in Bus no 55, from Madina Khalifa to Alfardan side during morning hours and in evenings also we have seen many women travelling.

Mowasalat Buses are provided for public both for male and female.

Good to hear that!! :)Thank you.
4 seats facing rows behind the driver seats, intended for ladies or family, was the idea.
Front few seats are always reserved for females.
