10,000QR salary to live in Doha, enough?

Hi there,

I am about to move to Doha, in one month time. And my company is offering me 10,000 QR salary, they are paying for my housing and all utilities are paid, including Cell Phone. Is this money enough?

The only things I have to worry about is food at home, and anything else, like if I go out for a drink or dinner maybe once or twice a week. I need to get a car, maybe leasing. What do you guys think about this? What are the expenses I am going to run into. How sociable are people in Qatar, lets say if I wanna have some friends in their late 20s early 30s. Is it easy to meet girls and maybe have a girlfriend.

Let me know your thoughts please.

Thanks and Regards.

Travelino.

Hello every one,I Need some information from you, as recently I have been offered a job in Supreme Counsil of Health, Qatar, the total salary is 18K all inclusive. Just tell me will it be fine for me with my wife and daughter to live? I am an Indian with a very simple lifestyle, no addictions etc; what can we save there? what about accomodation expenses..like 2 bedroom flat rents and cost of living..discuss in detail.

also discuss about the visa procedures, I mean do we need to send them the medical, I am now in Muscat. Also what about police clearance? how much time does it take to get your family over there etc and all what you need to mention over here.

Thanks Jack! It is helpful information! But how am i gonna go to my company and tell them pay for my gym? I think they will just laugh about it. lol...

About the girls thing....jezzzz.....is that all man there? I am sure as many expat guys there are working in Qatar sure there might be some nice expat girls too right? Anyways, today I got the news I will be flying there in less than 2 weeks! So I am very excited, and I am looking forward to have a wonderful time in crazy Doha.

Keep the info coming! THanks again!

Do not mind them man. People you meet in qatar are way better than people on QL. The problem is that most of the people here compete for earning points on QL.. Why? I have no clue lol.. some answer EVERY post no matter what.

Smart answers are part of being humorous here even if the questioner is serious.

Now to answer your question: it is kinda low that salary if you are the kind of person that like to have a non boring life and escape to dubai/bahren every 2 or 3 weeks to change atmosphere. See here, the probability of hooking up with a girl if you have standards is like the probability of seeing an elephant in US walking on the street lol.

2,000 qatari ryals are enough for your food monthly shopping and this is if you eat healthy and get excellent food/vegis/fruirs.

at least ask your company to reimburse you for gym expenses ( VERY important ) gyms are real expensive especially good ones when you compare to US prices.

hope that helps.

...oohh...btw...seriously? no girls? I mean can you go to a Bar and meet some group of ppl, or how do you socialize there?

THanks Guys. About the people complaining about why I write here, and to look back on my 9 months ago post, well....stop being so rude! It doesnt look good. I didnt take a job back then, but I am coming now, thats why I want fresh info, makes sense right? lets leave it there. For those who have helped with helpful info, thank you very much, I highly appreciate your time and advice.

I believe 10,000 it is ok for what i see, it wont be the most luxurious life, but it will be a good life, I will work a lot, one day off a week, so it should be alright. When I asked abotu girls, I didnt mean I am lookign for girlfriends everynight, but I am looking to have a good healthy social life as well, so when I go to Qatar it is not just cause of work and work and work, I would love to have a life too. And maybe as I am single, it will be possible I might want to have a GF too. I am asking very simple questions, but some of you guys are tough on your answers, making ppl feel unwelcome, that should change, just an advice.

Anyways thank you very much, cause even that teaches me you will find any type of ppl in Qatar, just like anywhere else.

I hope to meet you all (or some of you once in Doha).

If there is more info you can share with me it will be great!

Masalama.

considering that your accommodation is taken care of including the utilities i think that amount is sufficient. leasing of a car and if its brand new would cost around QR1700 if your not picky probably even less. a lot of people that work here have managed for far less so your ok.

Since your from USA , QAR 10,000 per month may only suffice your grocery , car , petrol , telephone , internet , eat -outs , bowling /pool , drinks and shopping expenses . Ideally QAR 30,000 is sufficient including HRA . Anything higher is better . Maybe few trips to dubai and you can meet girls there easily at pubs in burdubai or deira . So add QAR 2500 for one trip per month to dubai and expenses . So you gonna struggle it seems with this paltry QAR 10000 salary per month .

Have you really been on QL for 42 weeks? And you have neither come to Qatar nor read previous posts? What are you really trying to get here?

Well the offer is not an excellent one but seeing your single status, i think you would be able to manage here well with this salary...

Good that your company is taking care of accomodation..

Why are you worried about the food at home?? If you know cooking, just buy the cooking utensils and you are done with your delicious food..

You can get the cars/vehicle on rent for a month or so..But it would be better if you buy the car of your own rather than renting a car coz it will cost you much..

If you have money to spend elsewhere, you can go out for dining..No one will stop you here..

People are nice in qatar especially on QL..hehehee..So stick to QL for as long as you can..

GF?? omg...it's a difficult question..I think you shouldn't think that this is USA..This is middle east..This all i can say..

Maybe you're not coming here to work and earn money then save for your future....with all your worries, you batter ask the campany to give you QR 50,0000 salary to cope up all your socialites expenses.
