Thanks ham4u, very good information, i came to Doha in Feb'08, for all these months i had my salary spent on setting up home and family, now i can start sending money to my hometown Blore, while coming here i had opened an NRI account with Corpration Bank with zero balance and here an account with HSBC. have not yet enquired with HSBC, as per ur answer HSBC is not there in ur list of direct banking. So shall open an NRI account with HSBC Blore from here with GPA which i have already given to my relative. Thanks once again.

Shall: Why are you being so mean. This site is for people to ask questions and hopefully get them answered. THE ONLY STUPID QUESTION IS THE ONE NOT ASKED.

If you are new.. then i have some suggestions.

First you open a SB or Current Account here in Qatar. As per my knowledge, the following banks are direct link with some banks in india

Doha Bank - Axis Bank / Federal Bank

QNB - HDFC Bank

CBQ - ICICI Bank

So.. if you still not opened any bank account in India, the above banks will help you to open the bank account. By using the internet banking facility of the local bank, you can transfer the funds directly to the NRI Bank a/c in the corrosponding indian banks within minutes and with less service charge and better exchange rates.. (doing in the convenience of sitting in your own home).

Or if not the above banks, open NRI account in any Indian banks and transfer the fund through the money exchanges in Doha..

It sounds a bit stupid Q..even a uneducated person know how to send money to NRI A/C in India..if if have NRI A/c in India, that means u have already sent money from Qatar or elsewhere to open this A/c,so send the same way..if you are so ignorant go to exchange with money they help you to send through draft or telex transfer..It is sad you have to ask this Q at QL..don't you have any friends or workmates/roommates etc.who can tell you..Good Luck to your money transfer to NRI A/C in India..How much are sending ???
