I have a question for indians and philipins Managers .
why you are only looking a human resource who is from India or Philipini ? why you didn't offer an opportunities for others citizenries especially the person who is from Africa ?
N.B other nationalities can also forward their answer.

nobody can answer for those managers or whoever hires who.. it's their preference..it dooesn't mean that they don't like you.it just so happen that they like other people more..so if you are not hired, then the job is not for you..just look for another..

It's a case to case basis... sometimes they prefer same nationalities to help them and easier to communicate. The mere fact that its unfair to other nationalities who are capable also of doing the job. But its not fair as well to be accused as cheap. We are all here to earn a living, most of us bear the loneliness of being away from families just to earn the money to support them.

People have their own 'comfort zones'. They prefer their own nationalities to be as colleagues and mates. This habitual is not only seen in work and living places but also in roads. Qataris have their own 'road manners' when it comes to be exposed to expatriates and Qataris themselves. This is the fact.

In the era of the Global Village, there is no comparison.. based on .. race , religion, language or nationality. All are the same. So All workers behave yourself, you all are supposed to get the same opportunity as others. It only depends on your character and quality.

well indians & filipino are not preferred coz they are best or all those above comments but coz they are ready to accept any package offered and then once they are settled thy start looking new opportunities...i am very much sure that except Asians not a single expat will accept monthly salary less then QR7K excluding allowances....and the most job seekers are indains and filipino...coz other than those on gud position and salaries rest all are stable at most for a year or two the moment they find a new offer same moment will plan to shift...n its a fact as all are here for money...
n ethab its not a matter that at HR position only inidans or filipino r hired...may b u came across only these two nationality...also its but obvious a guy will refer his fellow man only or atlest he will consider him once...n i feel even u would do same...

Looks like the word cheap has caused uproar :) Hmmmn I feel that (by the kind of Filipinos n Indians Ive seen / met) they dont live very high living standards & instead they save that money & send back to their country to make their living very decent back in home. Because they have this thought that we left our home country & beloved ones to earn a little more than what was not possible in home country, so we should concentrate & reach our target so that we go back in between our ppl with a decent living for the rest of our lives. Plus I dont think only these two nationalities are present in HR jobs I know of quite a big number of other nationalities who are in key positions too.
Supporting countrymen applies to all & this shows their sincerity towards the betterment of their country & its citizens.

Indians are the BEST; look at the past and present; you will find Indians everywhere at their best. They are well qualified professionals but honestly don't know their TRUE worth.
They are tolerants and misunderstood as slaves (being British slaved for over 200 years); They have self respect and do respect all.
They came from multicultural working and living environment and could adapt and manage at any situation in life (favourable or adversity). Look from a macro point of view; nobody is fool in this world. Even Qatari knows very well; who could be most loyal, honest, trustworthy, hardworking to achieve goals and integrity.

The reason above all answers is the communication problems which will be a major hurdle while working. Cheap labour is another factor. The cultural shock influences the employers also. ok.
Why? Because Qatar is NOT a land of equal opportunity. If that's what you are looking for, go somewhere else. As, others have replied earlier, it's easier to 'manage' people when you share the same culture. My buildings Egyptian security guy hires only Egyptian security guards. Our Ethiopian transport manager hires only Ethiopian drivers. Our Indian finance officer prefers only Indian (and specifically from one particular city/region) accountants. This is not possible even in India, which btw a land of equal opportunity. Cheap is not the only reason. This is what I heard recently - I can get a Ghanaian accountant for half the price. but, I don't want her.

-They can easily favour Indians and Philippines (their own nations)
-Most of time they can work cheap and in adverse conditions
-There is no any rule in Qatar, everything depend on favour/reference (WASTA), they are everywhere so imagine who will get hired
-Qatari don't care as long as you are their slave- matter how much you are educated or skilled, they are best at these
-Qatari likes people who can work cheap and can become their slave...
-There is no value of talent, skills and experience
-there is no any test, interview or selection process...
And many more.....
because we are better.
because its easy for them to understand each other and to support each other.
