sometimes.. its not about the money...

i have been 6 years from our company. i started as a secretary, became the head of DCC, and now i belong to the management level.

my 6 years experienced is not so easy, our salary are delayed, i have encountered so much struggles. through the ups and downs of our company I never leave it and go to another company. the main reason is, the management is giving me a very good treatment. they made me feel like we are family. I have a very kindhearted boss and very condiderate as well as our CEO.

i have a very generous job offer outside but i cant leave our company, sometimes, its not about the money, but its about how the management treated you and all staff and employee were like a family. im happy here in my work and thats really what matters most. if you are happy in your work, it feels like you are not working at all. :-)

it's what you called a comfort zone. If you are still happy good for you. As long as you are growing and learning it's ok. Use wisely your skills learned from that company someday you shall be using that in other companies but remember to share your blessings, pay it forward. So you have no plans in migrating? Thanks and God bless.

What if your boss is bias to you and favoring Qatari locals?

Such people with good heart are very few left on this planet. I would definitely like to meet such people and really appreciate those who respect humans as human being and not TREAT a person like a mere machine or a computer.

I have worked with Top Regional Managers, who has 2/3 Executive secretaries, to do their work on computers, their job is to take major and difficult decisions for the organisation. It is NOT necessary that management personnel should know computers :)

Please allow me to tell you MY STORY

I resigned from my previous company November 2008, and the Operations Manager rejected my resignation and terminated my contract. I said, no problem...I got my NOC, so no harm done.

They kept my passport and after I got a job at a law firm, I found out that my passport was surrendered to CID and reported as absconding and I have to pay QAR6,000 to get it back.

I lost my job at that law firm, found another job as a School Administrator but they weren't able to help me get my passport back as THEY DON'T HAVE A VISA for me. And when I was able to get someone's help inside CID through a friend, the school changed management and abolished the position...it was December 2009, I was jobless, no money, no one to turn to...so I took odd jobs (baby sitting, typing, cleaning houses) just to get by and be able to send money home. My daughter has to stop in the middle of her school term (she was in 2nd year university, then) cos I couldn't pay for her tuition at that time.

January 2010, a friend said her friend's son is looking for a secretary. Never heard of the company but I was desperate for a job. I applied, and I got lucky. The salary was okay for an entry level position and I know I'm gonna be underpaid...but at that time, beggars can't be choosers.

I worked my butt off, I was assisting the boss with his company plus his other 3 companies as well. What the heck I said. I'm enjoying THE JOB.

My boss turned out to be a very kind hearted, compassionate, down-to-earth person.

I didn't told him of my passport/visa issue but he knows I'm working in resolving it on my own. When he found out, he loaned me the money (that was October) and I was able to get my passport and visa sorted out February 2011. Up to now, I'm still paying for that loan and hopefully will finish them by Feb next year and start paying my loans from everyone else.

My husband (I recently got married) knew about it and though hubby always tell me I am overworked and underpaid, I always tell him...MY BOSS WAS THERE when I needed help. I'm forever indebted.

Sometimes, its not always about the money...I agree. But for the majority who works abroad...it's all about MONEY and the easy life it brings for us and our family.

Ok...drama over :P

i have one collegue who were kicked out from his old company because they found out that he is suffering from kidney failure and need to udergo dialisis.

Then he applied to our company.

Later, when our management found out the about his illness, our boss didnt kicked his ass out, but he kept him and gave him a 1 hour advance to leave the office and come home to take a rest or go to Hamad Hospital for his medication.

last year, he was diagnosed with cancer. he under chemo and was in hamad hospital for almost one year.

right after he is very well, he still asked the management if he can still work with his condition. our boss accepted him and now he is happily working in our company with his condition.

our boss told us that this man needs help, and even if he come every day half day because of his condition, i will still pay him his full salary. he is actualy our logistic officer.

one of our collegue's family from his home country became homeless because their house was burned. our comapany dont have money that time to pay for his settlement, our boss paid him from his pocket just to let this poor guy go to his homeland.

my boss told me, i know exactly how it feels when your are pennyless.. because i experienced living in this country without any single riyal from my pocket.

take note, my boss is not really good in english.. but he have a big great heart. thats all. :-)

english has nothing to do in managerial level my friends. :-)

nomerci...if your arent working outside how would you know what works in business and what not. There are many other things than just good english to run a business successfully or be a part of it. Simply put it is more about communication where if you undertsand what I am saying we have a deal, as simple as that. We dont have to speak or write 100% correct english.

And English DOES have to do "in managerial level". At least if the company operates internationally.

if you aged 70 and you are still working your ass on... then its not the company problem anymore! haha!

do you accept that u are still working at the age of 70??? so that means, at your earlier age, u didnt do anything to save for your future but to let your self live to work but forgot to live the life to its fullest :-)

By rovieleeh• 3 Dec 2012 15:32
rovieleeh

hahaha!i smiled reading all your comments guys. i understand that all of us have different believes, opinions, points of view, and to the person who had a problem with my english, i believe u must attend to english language school. u must probably the one who have a problem with english language. :-)

guys, im earning here, we are all came to this country to work and to earn for our family. sometimes, earning a lot of money is not enough, but finding the right company, right job for you with kind hearted management is something i am grateful for. with all my contribution to our company, hardworks, passion with my work, all i get is a nice environment, nice collegues, kind bosses.

sometimes when you work, it is not about the money, but the "respect" i repeat the "respect" and my dignity is all i have. Money is just a money, we can earn it everywhere, but the the respect of my employer, who treats me right, who believes in my capabalities, who bring out the best in me is something that MONEY cant buy.. im not saying i work for free, i just didnt get a higher salary, our company had just started year 2003, and i wanna grow with the company.

my boss told me, yes it is easy to replace you in your position, its easy to find somebody who will sit on your chair, but ITS NOT EASY TO FIND SOMEONE THAT THE MANAGEMENT CAN TRUST WITH.

Zouheir, in a country where English is the main language in business and otherwise, it is not possible to run a company without it.

Bad English gives a bad impression.

time, when my father worked for a company for over 3 decades and breath his last in the office.

The management is only concerned about my work and least bother about anything else. Be practical.

Does your company will continue to keep you employed at the age of 70 or God forbid you fall sick for over 6 months? I seriously doubt.
