Hey guys,

Ive been in Doha only less than a month but so far dont like it here and dont like the job either. There is a probation period of 3months on my contract. If I resign now (im in my 1st month), would I have to pay anythng? I was hired in my country, doesnt have Iqama yet and have not undergone medical exam here. Im ok with the 2 years ban as I would probably going back to Dubai by end of this year since my previous company is willing to take me back. The soonest i will advise to my employer the better? As i have said i havent even finished my 1st month. Thanks for reading.

if you reconsidering staying for a year, just resign before they renew your visa next year or else you MIGHT end up paying the visa/medical that time. but you'll definitely pay your airfare back home. or if they'll cancel you which is a good way for you, you wont pay for your airfare :)

thanks for all comments. I arrived here with a working visa already but i've been working for more than 2 weeks and have not undergone medical exam. I dont want to fail the medical test just so I will be sent home because that's another problem of course. Anyways, I think i jsut have to bear this for a year and then resign. Do I have to pay them anything if I complete a year?

Thank you

... as he has not undergone any medical yet. Do you know if you arrived on a visit visa and how long that visit visa is for? If you have not undergone any medical I advise you to refuse to do so and to say you want to return. Be firm and strong about your wish to make sure you are not tied to them. If they send you back without pay they will have to provide the airfare - or else how can they get the pay from you?

Anyway, you should have done the medical already if you are working. You are not allowed to work on a visit visa. Contact your embassy and make sure to get out of this situation as soon as you can. Good luck.

it will also depend on the nationality of the management and the nature of the company. Some management are nice to it's employees and some are very rude.

but with your case and based on 1 experience with a colleague of mine, he only stayed for 1 month. he didn't resign but he was fired. even if you stayed just for 1 week and they fired you or cancelled, they'll pay for your airfare. but you'd probably pay for the visa/medical card (if you already have one).

I'd say, do something that will let you be fired and cancelled straight away so at least you wont pay for your airfare :)

Depending on who is your employer you may or may not need to pay for your airfare back .. but after all this is why probation exists

Check what your offer or contract says

"The best way to predict the future is to create it".

you will definitely pay for your own airfare back to your country. . .

other provisions. . . you will have to sort it out with your employer. . .keep your fingers cross that they are nice guys
