*enter the roundabout with high speed
*in this street speed limit is 80KM/H
*Bus speed is 110KM/H

When it comes to the Karwa driver and the bus, at least you could keep your distance from him and able to outmaneuver promptly, because of the size.

But If it was a Qatar driver or what ever the Arab nationality, then your life is in jeopardy because his rage driving skills is Zero tolerance and pure negligence in four wheels.

One of my colleagues had a hit and run by a Karwa bus driver when out with a friend for dinner one evening. To his great luck he met a friend who had seen the bus and my colleague went straight to the police. What if no one had seen the accident?

The bus driver denied the charges but however the dent and that car colour on his bus proved he was not telling the truth.

Karwa did not sack the driver as drivers GOOD bus drivers are still very hard to find.

Karwa taxis are the same and very often driving reckelessly.

You seem to be on the wrong page buddy. I think the thread is centered on "reckless bus drivers" (not types of vehicles) who can take with him so many lives with just one driving mistake...knock on wood.

Now for those other drivers of other vehicles, well that's another story & we're not making an exception of it. But I agree with you, accidents are really unpredictable... But statistically, accidents always involve careless drivers & seldom involves careful drivers.

imagine a reckless driver driving a land cruiser gets a high speed accident with a very careful karwa bus driver injuring all the people in the bus.

the point is, reckless driving should have no exemptions be it a small car, suv, taxi, bus, truck, etc.

When you're on the road, it doesn't matter if you're a careful driver or not, accidents are unpredictable.

just my two cents ;)

Its a pity state of affairs ......... and of-course this is not the first case. Is KARWA doing something abt it ???

Aren't the gruelling process of obtaining drivers license ie. schooling & all education enough for drivers? Traffic rules are universal & is observed in most contries of their origin. Nobody can have a Qatar driving license unless they are properly educated. They just simply disobey them because it's in their attitude.

A vehicle is an extension of a man's sense of ego in motion. There is a certain level of adrenaline-pschyed feeling when you go behind the wheel. It gives you a different level of power to move & that's exhilirating! The danger is that you put other people at risks.

It's no question that when you go behind the wheel, you get this feeling that you should not stop. I guess man is designed to fly not drive ;-).

is given to Karwa drivers to do all the violations one would imagine. Added to the fact that the management is finding difficulty to get new drivers, means that drivers can drive the way they like.

If you watch buses with passengers staked inside like sardines cans. Are they getting tickets for that?

If you manage to watch how bus drivers behave at the major Grand Hamad avenue coming from A-Ring road and trying to turn left towards the avenue. That is a continuous horror movie.

After October 2 (the date new traffic laws were implemented) I was about to hit a Karwa taxi driving the wrond direction.

Thinking about that, one would feel they are really protected and exempted from fines.

Wonder if any QLer reported a traffic violation to the management and how did they react. Provided they listen to you.

Alec i don't agree with you totally .... but some are sad tossers! LOL

I think some bad driving is sheer utter ignorance... and its not just about fines but education.

Such education campaigns should be undertaken in the different languages which reflect the diverse communities living in qatar

On Christmas Eve a karwa taxi was driving really really dangerously. I rang them as soon as I got in...thinking they would contact the driver straight away... they said they would look at it on 27th Dec and call me back.

They didnt and said they would call me back on 28th

they didn't

complaints are not taken seriously..........

If anyone knows anyone at Karwa...please please ask them to tell the drivers:

1) putting on hazards and stopping does not designate a de facto parking space

2) to pull over to a safe place when picking up/dropping off passengers NOT to stop dead on a busy road ie Al Sadd

thanks

In reality, there is nothing we can do to curb reckless driving... not even the new traffic laws. People's driving is a reflection of their individual behaviour & attitude. So, bad drivers are also bad people... or at least to some degree.

Bad people also have the right to share road space with us. Unless of course, their reckless driving cathes up with them... R.I.P.

Qatari is right, a bus is about 12 - 16 tonnes of weight, a private car about 1 - 1.5 tonnes, hence a different approach and style of driving would be appropriate !?

And for the camera men, such things should maybe not be encouraged, but since the police seams to be blind on that eye... these approach might change something if its spread on the internet ??

I stopped a cab driver the other day to get his name and license plate, so i could report him for reckless driving. Its usually none of my business how somebody drives, but the same taxi almost pushes me off the road 4 times in 15min in havy traffic, then I get a bit itchy....

The point is that it is a bus! It has passengers. That means if it is in an accident 40 people could be injured. Bus drivers are supposed to be trusted with the safety of their passengers.

And it is HUGE. Way bigger than any Landcruiser and not meant to be driven as fast, not as stable and not as nimble.

Buses are not meant to make quick movements, etc. One wrong move and it could wipe out another car or pedestrian.

you see the speed limit for commercial vehicles is usually 20km/h less than that of private vehicles, so maybe the cameraman was within the speed limit when it was 100km/h but the bus was not... get the point?

By anonymous• 28 Dec 2007 00:35
anonymous

Breaking the speed limit to prove others are reckless drivers is to me not good either. 2 speeding vehicles are worse than one. But I agree that a speeding bus like this is really reckless and the Driver should be banned from driving any bus
