Hi guys, I got an offer of employement without contract, is this normal in Qatar ?

The offer of employement states the salary, the period, the assurance, the vocation and the yearly ticket, is this enough ? or should i require a contract ?

Please note that i'm an engineer with a PhD

Thanks

Hi Marvelo,

That's normal. I signed the Employment Contract on the very first day, together with various other documents. Then, you will need to wait out for the medical, finger-printing etc.

Hamad Medical is a good organisation.

OK, anyway I'll ask them to send me a contract, couldn't understand why the contract is not provided in addition to the offer as all companies in the world ?

Allow me to share my experience. After a lot of interview and documentation finally I got my offer letter from the employer. I asked them for advance copy of contract but there HR official wrote me clearly in e-mail that they shall get it signed only after my arrival at Doha. And now I am waiting for my visa. On this issue I had a talk with my British consultant. They also suggest me to wait for visa and sign the contract later at Doha. Please suggest shall I insist on getting a advance soft contract or not. The employer is none other than the top govt organization Hamad Medical. Can I depend on there words ?

It seems that most people ask for advice but don't listen

Why? The offer letter isn't a contract, it's just an offer. If you come to Qatar and the contract differs from the offer you haven't got much in your hands. And, whatever they do in Qatar isn't a measure. It's about time that the monkey companies in Qatar get used to international standards. And if you accept their offer you are contributing to the 'Wild West' in the business world over here.

No, you must be foolish to come here without a contract.

Thanks guys, this is insuring, so in most cases the contract will be signed later upon arrival. I'll ask further about it.

A contract is a very important document. The contract must be one that has been registered at the Labor Office without which it has little value. If you have a legal contract from your employer, you can seek the assistance of the Labor Office should the employer make a breach of agreement. Without a legalized contract you are left at the whims of the employer. He may not pay you your salary for example or not give you your End of Service benefits as required by the labor law, and you will not be able to make any claims. If he is willing to give you a contract after your arrival here, it is fine as that is how it is done in most cases.

If they violates the condition in the offer or if the contract differs from offer after your arrival then you can charge civil case against the company here and the company should pay 10 years salary as compensation for you. So dont worry.

Offer is quite enough. You will sign the contract before stamping the Residence Permit in your passport. No worries

The offer should be a pre cursor to the contract.

Ask them to send you a draft contract
