A friend of mine actually have the written salary in his contract lower than in job offer.

Naturally he protested and in the end the problem was rectified. Not knowing the whole story, I'm not sure whether it was a genuine typo error or whether he was offered a higher salary than his job grade in the first place, but this thing do happen.

you come to Qatsr and I would be very concerned about a company doing that. There is no reason they can't process your contract before you come so you have a stronger position legally speaking. There are some very disreputable companies here and the government gives them a LOT of leeway to exploit people. I would insist on a contract before you board a plane.

Without having a signed contract with a set salary you have little you can do.

of the Employment Contract. You are free to approach the Labour Ministry, Human Rights etc....... The situation in Qatar is not so draconian, what is rumoured in western world

Is the embassy up and running yet?

You would contact the Labour Department, they are located next to the American Hospital. Other posters may be able to confirm this section takes complaints.

did you sign the employment contract?!?!?

if yes then you can take it to labor department in "sinayia" and file a case against your employer...he could fire you without giving the one month notice if you haven't finish the probation period,...but he cannot cut from your salary!!!!

Before your residence permit is stamp in your passport, you will sign an employment contract with your employer and it will be validated by the Ministry of Labour.

That is your legal document which is related to your employment.

During your probationary period of six months, your employer can terminate the contract without any grace period if the employer decides that you are not qualified to your job.

After the probationary period of six months and your employer is happy with your work performance, your employer might even give you a salary increase.

Good Luck...

As far as I know the offer letter should be binding, and you should have a contract signed before you start working stating the same as the offer letter. If the contract hasnt been processed the only legally binding document is the offer letter.

6 months prohibation is lengthy, it is generally 3 months if I am correct.

This is the way they usually hire people. First they send a job offer, then when you reach Qatar, they will process your RP and employment contract, which is a legal document.

They would have given you a job offer letter or something right? Isn't that a proof? And mostly if it is a good company, they wont do like that. No worries.. welcome to Qatar !
