harassment banking
How many days does a bank in Qatar take to disburse a personal loan? Generally two days. But my experience with Mashreqbank has been very painful, to say the least. It goes to show how the callous attitude and inefficiency of a bank can ruin the peace of mind of a hapless customer. So, be on guard, all the readers!
Mashreqbank sanctioned me a loan, but instead of releasing the loan to me, they are keeping it in my account (frozen) and charging interest on that! The problem is that I was not able to submit a salary transfer certificate in a format required by the bank. I have no right on the bank’s money and they have every right to refuse the loan. But that’s not my complaint. The bank was holding me a hostage for eighteen days without giving a Yes or No answer and every day I went through excruciating mental agony as I needed the cash for a property deal back home. After all, you don’t seek a loan to dine at a local restaurant!
At the same time, an official at the bank gave me hope saying the money would be released ‘soon’. But on Tuesday, he gave me another shock! That the loan will be released only after my first salary transfer! Do you take 18 days (by Tuesday) to come up with this reply? This is a clear case of cheating as they deprived me of the chance to approach another bank by delaying its decision.
Any ideas on how I can get justice?
my friends applied for personal loan with mashreqbank too but to their shock they received visa and mc credit cards instead after 2 months of waiting...
Mashreqbank....
It could be due to some blunder of some staff...most of the guys here are not experienced....more so in Banking ...they also dont know how to handle a customer.
Usually if a person is working in an Q-Company or govt company they dont wait for the sal-transfer to be done.
Maybe if they felt the company you work for is small then they would imagine you taking the loan and fleeing wthout the company takning any responsibility.
so chill for the moment ....since you got the loan now

In other words, they did approve the loan. Because of a technicality in the paper work, they froze all your monies and still charging interest on the loan.
In my opinion, they are entitle to it.
But to freeze your account is questionable. I'll advise you to be patient, go the extra mile with the headache and get your paper work straight, then collect your money that you deserve.
The question that merges are:
Did you had other savings in the same account?
Why don't you return back the loan back to the bank?
Then applied for another loan in a different bank.
Good luck.....
President Bush,In a message to Tehran, he said: "You bet you have a sovereign right, absolutely, but you don't have the trust of those of us who have watched you carefully when it comes to enriching uranium."
instead of paying the interest on it? and to apply in some other bank?
