Customer Service

Is it just me or is there a particular lack of good quality customer service here over the phone? The number of times I have heard phones answered with ''yeah, hello'', and when you ask for whoever you are wanting to speak to, they huff, and just sound like they cannot be bothered. Even some major companies, the first person on the main switchboard who answers, they just sound like you are a huge burden to them. I am getting more and more frustrated with the lack of service, and the rudeness of some of these people. - sorry just need to vent a little.

NZJen,

I am actually.

I am testing their "5 star" qualities.

After 2 follow up emails with no reply and several phone calls, they finally transferred me to the agent who is dealing with "my case".

She simply told me that she received the report, it’s under investigation and shortly she will reply to me.

Once I get it, I will update you with their response in the post I did about it.

As for Customer Service here, we all know either there is a low professional skills' display or the person (very often) has no power or authority to address your request and is afraid to pass your message to those who have the power to do something about it.

Take Qatar Airways, as an example. If you report on some failure to anyone, they will tell you to write a report, instead of ensuring you that they will improve that failure.

It’s truly a nightmare here, when compared to many many other countries with much less resources and wealth!

The truth is that here, not many care!

Totally agree - customer service is complete rubbish here - people say 'No' to whatever question you ask them, mostly I think so they don't have to look for what you want or make an effort to get out of their seats!!

Lusitano - are you still trying to get a response from Qatar Airways on the incident on the plane?? Can't believe you're STILL waiting for a response!!

Even Qatar Airways has poor customer relations response.

The other day I called to enquire about a report and 2 follow up emails not acknowledged or replied.

They told me to call customer service, which I did, then after a while they answered and after listening to my question they transferred the phone to someone. Who after 7 minutes of waiting never answered the phoned.

I called back again and complained and the answered that probably the person was in the toilet....

Customer service of Qatar Airways...lol

Quality Standards in Qatar are at the lowest of any other underdeveloped nation.

Last week I had to phone a very large organization in Doha. I fully imagined the total futility of it before calling. The operator who answered,an arabic lady , I could tell from the accent, was wonderful. She would be a credit to any company . Unfortunately she had to patch me through to someone else, heart sank. The other persona part from having a difficult to understand accent worsened by trying to be efficient and speaking at a hundred miles an hour,it was made worse by having to actually ask her to slow down. Needless to say this individual could not furnish me with any info. She was basically just answering the phone, not very good for the frontline person that everybody has to deal with.

Needless to say I now have no interest in the organization based on the theory that if they cant even have decent front line staff what is it like further up.

Service here is almost the worst Ive encountered anywhere and I still cant figure out why ,

Whatever you vividly imagine, Ardently desire, Sincerely believe and Enthusiastically act upon, Must inevitably come to pass.

I know - I feel like I have interrupted them most of the time, I've had one instance where I call, they answered with ''Yeh??'' I was a bit thrown off - so I carried on being polite anyway and asked for the person I would like to talk to, and she responded with ''uufffffff'' and she huffed n puffed for a few moments, then hung up!!

Sometimes I prefer to get answered by an automated voice message!!!! lol

I try to stay super polite when they're rude - i feel like it annoys them more than if i were to be rude back! haha

I think customer service SUX in Qatar! I phoned Al Ahli hospital to make an appointment with a doctor. Besides being kept holding for more than 5 minutes, when I asked to make an appointment, this woman gave a big huff and said "hold on"like O flip! Another one I have to deal with! I have found it in most places I have had to deal with. EXCEPT Q-Tel offices at Landmark mall. They are the nicest and proffessional people I have come across. Also a smile and "can I help you" The arab men are SO good looking too! ;-]

You're lucky someone answers the phone. I usually get a continuous ringing or a message saying "leave a message, we'll get back to you" followed by "Sorry, the mailbox is full"

Haha Mayed, thanks - I know, it's Sunday morning and it's just a bad start to the week!

Umm-salayum - I totally agree! It is very off putting, when it;s the simplest thing, you just need to be put through to someone... they just cannot b bothered, at the end of the day we are all doing our jobs, and there is no need for any of us to be rude!

Lack of professionalism and quality, not just restricted to customer services…etc and it will not change over night. Basically it is attitude of the people matters.

Moving on is simple; it's what you leave behind that makes it so difficult .

I feel the same way, very unprofessional personal here. unhelpful and uninterested in the customer. I don't like calling at all, most of the time I don't understand the bad English they speaking. and you never get anything done that way, have to be in their face , as they say.

Hello,

Don't be frustrated!!!!! Start it with yourself. Just be excellent in your own way. Am sure some will follow the line. Have good day!!!

It's not something people should just get used to, some places you call and they are so helpful, and it makes such a difference, but when you call and someone just says ''yeah, what?'' and starts talking to their friend when you are trying to get through to someone, it's off putting - I've been here almost my whole life, I know how it is here.. doesn't mean people should just be rude for no reason, shouldn't make a difference where in the world you are....
