I'm shocked to see the posts here regarding changing jobs. I've been working in dubai for the last 3 yrs and now considering a job offer with qatari govt unit. From what i have read from teh forum..i feel that qatar labour laws are like 6 yrs old compared to dubai. In dubai this hassle of NOC applies to blue collar jobs. Engineers, doctors fall in an "exempted category" where there can change jobs with out getting a ban as long as they complete one yr of service.

The latest rule in dubai is that anybody can change jobs provided they pay some fees at the labour dept. And these days no company would go for teh hassles for puting a ase in teh labour dept against an employee.

Is changing jobs from govt depts difficult too? i considering a job offer form qatar foundation. Pls advise.

(sigh) I don't know premprakash, but all my problems in this country so far are caused by bloody Egyptians, they turned my life into hell for 27 years back there, and even here when I am thousands of miles away from that filthy place I am still suffering on the hand of those messangers of the devil....

I am sorry for the harsh language, but I am presuming that there aren't a lof of them here in Qatar living, it is too "intellectual" for them

daer Hamlet,

human right ? that is also in Qatar, first they should have to know about human , then right , they just think oil ,

I have been living in that drama for about a year now, I left my old job but they are still refusing to transfer my sponosrship, and though I have been living here for about 5 years and I am hard working architect and have a masters degree, I still have to wait for an Egyptian pig to let me go and be free to exercise my basic human right of working in a place of my choice

But most company i knew, wont give you NOC w/o resignation.

Thanks for the infos;)

By anonymous• 13 Jun 2007 16:35

You are somewhat misguided in this. You don't have to resign to get NOC. if u r in good terms with the boss, he can issue NOC to you without resgigning right

if you don’t mind I suggest you first talk to your sponsor or company ,and I agree with Apple suggestion this is also better way , I don’t think any sponsor or company will allow you , lets see Qatar also changing day by day , it takes time people to modernise and minimum expat human right , police clearance doesn’t apply for sponsorship change if I am not wrong , first step is you have to talk to your sponsor , if all way close , no need to go back your country , Dubai and Bahrain is waiting for you , try there

When you apply for police/cid clearance, You are required to submit an NOC from your sponsor, Which means you have to resigned from your current job to get NOC, Which means no going back to your current job, And which means if they refused to give you police/cid clearance, Finally it means be ready to pack your things and leave the country!

Simple as that! ;)

By stealth• 13 Jun 2007 16:26

When you go for sponsorship change you still need to get a police clearance for change of sponsorship.

By Apple• 13 Jun 2007 16:25

police clearance= CID clearance...

dont be confused here

By Apple• 13 Jun 2007 16:24
Apple

Disapproval from labor dept. means no police clearance means Goodbye qatar!

By anonymous• 13 Jun 2007 16:23

This is serious question not a joke police clearence from Qatar and for what purpose.

By stealth• 13 Jun 2007 16:21

If you dont get Police clearance then also its bye-bye to this country

By Apple• 13 Jun 2007 16:15
Apple

Even if you got the NOC from your sponsor, if you have offered a job from a Govt. sector and disapprove from the Labor dept., still expect a cancellation of your visa. That is facts!

i think thats the hardest thing in qatar to change ur job coz most of the company dont give you release to transfer to another company,so the one who own a private sponser ship he is very lucky, hope they will cancel the cancellation law from qatar to let the people to have beter jobs and to feel free.....

You need to obtain the NOC from your existing employer and you must have completed the agreed contract period to change jobs
