hi guys!

i'm surprised there is this organized webpage about life in Qatar. it makes me inclined to think that it will be nice to work there. guys, i have this problem right now and i do hope somebody can give me a good advise on this one. i was offered with a job in Qatar as a hotel manager (the name of which i'm not comfortable to reveal)and was given an employment offer just recently. i kinda like the package which includes free acommodation (fully furnished, though i'm not sure what it covers), transportation allowance and a basic salary that's tax-free! however, i'm not sure how much basic income should i earn a month to afford a descent living in Qatar. can anyone please help me on this? i hope somebody with experience working in a hotel in Qatar can give me an advise. i may need your inputs when it comes to bargaining with the employer. lol.

by the way, i am from london and is still working here 'til now.

thanx in advance!!

Dear Manivannan

Monthly Salary for DBA = Minimum 10,000 QR + Allowances.

Relocation will be costly, So ask for relocation alowance.

Accommodation allowance should not be less than QR 6000.

Contract will be decided by the company and not by us.

oh yes. there are a lot of indians in qatar. Haven't u heard that neil armstrong found a keralite on the moon when he landed there.

work culture in qatar is work work work and no life.

Anytime..

By 10k I meant 10,000 Qatari Riyals a month.

If you are getting 10,000 USD a month then life will be very good!

A lot of people are very comfortable on less that QR10k a month as well.

There is quite a big French community here as well FYI

Drop me a line when you get here I'll show you the sites!!!

I think you've got a good offer,it's not easy to get a private company or employer provide you with accomodation so if you are offered one you can live as a princess.

Salaries in this country are mostly fair enough compared to other countries, the only problem here is getting started, like getting the accomodation and buying a car and you know all this headache, but since you have all these being taken care of then i think you'll be just fine.

Welcome to Qatar Living, stick to this page it's got a lot of good people and you will have many friends waiting for you when you get here.

Good luck and best wishes...hey,will we get good offers at your hotel when you get the job???!!! ;) lol

Patricia

Two things are expensive here renting a flat/house and alcohol.

Other than that the cost of living is very reasonable indeed.

House rents are comparable to London but you have free accomodation so no problem.

If you are getting 10k a month you will save most of it.

Are you French?
