About Qatar Customs

I purchased 10 Units of phones from China via website. They delivered it through DHL. It has stuck in customs. I went will all necessary documents. But Mr. Abu Bakr at ICT office rejected my application.

Now the phones are with customs. 10 Phones' price was 1500$ Incl shipment.

Before that I brought 2 Electric Scooters through Aramex, and 2 more again through Aramex. They have delivered it to my door safely.

There's something going on between customs and DHL.

They are hiding something.

When I went to ICT for approval it seemed like he already knew that someone will come to clear it and he already knew the name of the person in DHL who told me to bring this document.

Before all that, rep from DHL that he can help me clear the items if you pay 150QR for DHL fee and 700QR customs fee.

And ICT said that these phones can't be allowed inside Qatar. Because phone's brand name is not registered.

As China making many brands, so Qatar needs approval first.

I am stuck. And I am on tourist visa of Qatar. I don't have any Qatari ID. I purchased these phones for my personal (family) use.

exactly has anyone done successfull business with ebay?

Hi, has anyone been successful at buying things incl. Jewels, etc. from ebay and received smoothly here.

Because it is not available here, I purchased a USB3 port ExpressCard54 from China (online) for only qr43, adding qar94 for DHL courier. I was surprised when DHL called me that I need to pay qar296 for customs duty tax upon delivery.

qar296 for a qar43 item!?

if the value of personal goods above QR 3000 , Qatar customs will charge duty 5% of invoice value. But mobiles and computers are duty exempted

What I have found on the internet....

I am not going to post a link here as it was a few weeks ago, No duty is required on goods for personal use with a value of $2500.00 or Qr 9000, then you can be charged 5% of value, I am not sure if this is writen in stone or law. But it is always going to come down to the customs officer.

As a part of a cleaning equipment a kit of Acarex which contains pottasium hydroxide and methanol will be supplied. Do I need the environment and health certificate from the concern departnment in Qatar to claim it from the port?

so what kind of goods you buy from ebay..and is it coming to your post mail i mean P.O.Box mail or you have to go and collect from the customs.??

saeedkhan. not true. it's based on value. I've had some Aramex parcels with no tax, and some taxable.

hhmm most of the goods they are sending by USPS Express Mail International so what will happen is it will stop in the qatar customs or we have to collect it from our post office like a normal mail..??
