Government job interview

Hi all, I attended an interview at a government organization in the last week of November, and the interview went really well. However, I haven't received any communication from them since then. I have the contact number of the person who called me for the interview, and I sent them an email thanking them for the opportunity and asking for updates. Unfortunately, I haven't received a response yet. The interviewers seemed really pleased, and I was confident that I did well. Even if I wasn’t selected, I expected to receive at least a notification informing me of the outcome. Is it normal for government organizations to take time to provide updates (whether selected or rejected)?
You will get an update, only if accepted. otherwise don't get your hopes up.
Anyone?
