Finally the day is here. Schools are open and roads are jam-packed. Many kids appear to be sporting a cheerful grin while clutching on to their new school bags, whereas a few look quite sulky!

Yesterday would have been a hectic day for most of the parents. Lunch boxes should be prepared, the kids should be tucked in bed early, the bags and backpacks should be checked, uniforms and outfits should be pressed…the list would have gone on and on.

But this year apart from these usual tasks, there are many differences in the whole back to school season. This year’s season has brought in a couple of a new trends. For instance,

The pencil purses are all gone now and the pouches with multiple pockets are back in!

The brown lunch bags with a sandwich and an apple are being replaced by creative lunch box ideas. Many a “board” could be found on Pinterest about lunch box ideas.

Another trending back to school supply is the notebooks with eye catching covers.

Homework stations are very trending this back to school season. Parents have begun to allocate a specific place at home for their children to do their homework.

When I was a kid, I only got a lunch bag. But this year, the kids are most likely to get “special” notes along with their lunch boxes!

And finally, whoever who came up with the idea of a “backpack freshener” needs to be given a big round of applause! Yes, an air freshener for a backpack is the latest fad.

Which trend do you like the most? Have you come across any other "Back to School" trends? Please let us know in the comments below.

Tiffin. My great grandfather used to use one during the days of the Raj, when mamesahib would pack his lunch. Now it is making a comeback with Rizks providing Tiffin Lunches from his Emporium.
