Mashreq Bank has congratulated Mohammed Alaa, a member of its staff for successfully completing his climb of Mt.Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe.

The eight day journey of Alaa was sponsored by the bank to shows it's "commitment towards employee engagement and creating an opportunity for its staff to reach new goals".

"Despite the logistical difficulties of the trip and some sudden last-minute changes, I can proudly say it was a great success," Alaa was quoted as saying in The Gulf Times.

"I faced extreme challenges climbing Elbrus, some involved dealing with the dynamic climate conditions and lack of food, while additional challenges involved the steepness of the slope and the mountain’s structure."

The followers of the Facebook page of Mashreb Qatar has been keeping track of Alaa's ascent to Mt.Ebarus and he has been continuously motivated and encouraged by his collegues.

"My colleagues played a big role in motivating me to take up this challenge," Alaa added.

"Now, I look forward to my next trip and get closer to my goal of achieving the seven-summit challenge, which entails summitting the highest peak on every continent."

Usually, such climbs are carried out in support of charities. Wonder why he didn't do this. It would have been a win / win for all.
