All you need to know - Rawdat Al Khail Park
Sometimes places, buildings or even restaurants hold a very special place in our hearts and memories. One such place that brings back fond memories is none other than Rawdat Al Khail Park, previously known as Al Muntazah Park. This park was closed for renovation for the past twenty years and has recently been officially opened on 10 April for the public.
The opening ceremony took place on 10 April 2022 at 4pm. It was launched by a group of officials who inaugurated the opening of the park. Representatives from Ashghal were seen demonstrating the aims and objectives of renovating the park and what significance it holds for the people of Qatar. They also gave a brief speech on the history of this park and commended its strategic location. This was then followed by a stroll around the park visiting various key areas.
It is strategically located right opposite Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence and is easily accessible by the people.
Following are the several facilities and areas to enjoy within the park:
Flora
The park consists of 27 different species of trees. A total of 1,600 trees are planted all around the park. You will also notice 380 sq. m vertical wall plants surrounding certain areas of the park. The lush green hills within the park are more than 2 m of height. You can always enjoy a fun filled picnic here. It is also a perfect spot to just introspect or just read an interesting book.
Play Area
There’s two play areas for children to enjoy. It has a variety of slides, climbing equipment, swings and other playing facilities. Parents can always bring their kids here to enjoy the evening or have a play date.
Great Picnic Spot
Owing to the fact that the people of Qatar have a strong heritage of camping in the sand dunes, there’s always a camp-fire or barbecue done. Similarly, many parks around Qatar have incorporated this facility. Rawdat Al Khail Park has installed a total of eight barbecue stations where you and your family or friends can book and enjoy a fantastic evening.
Fitness Circuits
Those of you who are fitness enthusiast can take advantage of the top notch fitness circuits available at the park. There’s a ton of equipment installed in both the circuits. You can always team up with a workout partner and have a great exercise session. The goal need not only be to remain fit, sometimes exercises help us gear up the happy hormones in us. Thus, helping us relieve any sort of stress that we have.
Jogging Tracks
The park is equipped with 1118 m long bicycle trails and a 1183 m long running track. Visit the park for a great cycling activity as well as enjoy jogging or taking a relaxing stroll around the park.
Parking
There ample amount of parking for both cars as well as bicycles at the park. The park has 372 parking spaces for cars and 48 parking spots for bicycles.
Infrastructure
With regards to infrastructure, the park has been renovated to install modern automatic irrigation systems, that facilitate the irrigation requirements of the park. There’s also a total of a 137 energy saving light poles surrounding the park. There are 49 waste bins to manage waste disposal within the park. Apart from that, there are 5 drinking water stations installed in the park.
Food Stations
There are 7 food booths that have been built to cater to food stalls that will open up for the public serving all sorts of drinks and food such as our beloved karak, chips, sandwiches and so on.
Amphitheater
There’s also an amphitheater in the park which will later on hold events there.
Seating spots
There are a variety of seating arrangements made in the park ranging from park benches, to uniquely designed benches around trees and much more.
Other Amenities
Apart from the amenities mentioned above, the park also has easily accessible washrooms for men and women. There are also prayer room that cater to both. There’s security for the park as well.
