Visa for Newborn Baby - Parents without Residency

Hi,

I am currently staying in Qatar with my in laws and plan to give birth within 2 weeks. I am an Australian national and here on a tourist visa which can be extended until 16th July.

Since there is no Australian Embassy or Consular services here I will have to submit my application for passport in Dubai which will obviously take more time than usual.

In the mean time while I await the baby's passport (which can not be applied for until I receive the citizenship by descent certificate) is anyone aware how I can obtain some kind of visa for the child so I don't end up paying some ridiculous fine?

I am aware that you can apply for newborn baby visas, however this is only if the parents of the chld have residency which I do not!

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Please go to Women's Hospital Emergency telling you have such a pain or so ...then your file will be opened and no need to wait for appointment.

And Birth Certificate will be issued in 01-02 days time when you submit all the documents at SCH Counter at Hospital.

I have got a referral to Hamad from a private clinic. I plan to submit it tomorrow. Apparently you must physically submit the referral and they then contact you for an appointment.

My visa actually finishes on the 16th June (my due date) but i can extend for another month in said Immigration Office.

They will give baby visa without having been issued a passport though?

I am trying to work out the passport ASAP but can't do much before birth. The way the Australian system works though is that you must obtain a citizenship by descent certificate before applying for passport...and the passport must be applied for in person. So looks like I will have to leave the baby in Qatar and travel to Dubai to even get the passport to begin with.

Thanks for your help anyway

KHAN.

Man , you need to Go meet the captain at Al Gharrafa Immigration office. Tourist visa fine is QAR 200 per day. The captain will approve it. Your baby is likely to get 1 year temporary visa which cannot be extended. But you need to Meet Captain inorder to extend your stay. Also you need to register with Hamad hospital as well.
