Want to write in bold, italics and strikethrough on WhatsApp chats? Here's how!
If you’re a WhatsApp user, you will be happy to know that the chatting app has just added bold, italics and strikethrough text styles in messages.
These tricks are actually pretty simple to master. Here is how you can do it.
For bold: Add an asterisk (*) before and after specifics words — eg. *hello*
For italics: Add an underscore (_) before and after the specifics words: eg. _hello_
For strikethrough: Add a tilde (~) before and after the specifics words: e.g. ~hello~
Android phone users will need to run at least version 2.12.535 on their phones to have access to this service. Though it will work cross platform, your friend should have the latest versions of WhatsApp installed on their smartphones in order to be able to see it.
While these stylings can be entered in the WhatsApp web client, its formatting will show up only in the app-based version of the chats.
This is one of the rare features, other than voice calls, WhatsApp has launched since Facebook acquired it for $19bn two years ago.
Facebook recently revealed plans to enable business accounts inside the app, thereby allowing users to connect with companies with which they want to communicate via the service. It hasn’t happened yet, but could be a reality soon.
At this point, it looks like WhatsApp will continue to remain a more basic chat app.
Go on, impress your friends with the new font styles and functionality.

it works fine.
although you can't see it yet other party sees it
I checked with my phone before publishing this. It worked perfectly for me.
When you send a message to someone, the receiver will see the changes, that is italicised, bold or struck through. It won't appear that way for the sender. Only for the receiver.
It's ok.
