Twitter finally relax 140 characters limit on tweets… kind of!
If you have been a long-time Twitter user, you may have torn out your hair in frustration at the 140 character text limit imposed by the tech giant.
While it could be seen as a boon sometimes (shorter tweets to read), many people felt it severely limited what they had to say.
For those who fall into the latter category, it’s time to rejoice. From yesterday, Twitter started rolling out a new update by which pictures, videos, polls and quoted tweets in a retweet will not count towards the 140 character limit.
This way, they have maintained the overall character number which made Twitter, Twitter, and at the same time given opportunity for people to say more in each Tweet.
The 140-character limit was put in place in 2006, when Twitter launched, due to mobile phone text messaging constraints.
If you ask me, it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. Although the feature was unveiled yesterday, it is only gradually being rolled out. Qatar Living staff personally tested out the feature and it worked just fine. Look at this Tweet.
