Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are coming, and they look solid!
The Samsung Galaxy’s S6 and S6 Edge were game changers in the smartphone market in many ways. Now, its next generation, the S7 and S7 Edge, is here and it’s definitely a big improvement.
Without a doubt, Android fans are going to fall in love with the new phones. There had been disappointment all around when Samsung banished the MicroSD card slots from the S6. But fans should rejoice as the feature is officially back. The phones are also more water-resistant.
The base model comes with 32GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card. The memory card slot has been integrated into the nano-SIM card tray.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are dust and water-resistant and can be submerged in up to five feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
As to camera, both phones have a 12MB camera at the back and 5MB selfie camera on the front. Though the camera is less powerful compared to S6 model, Samsung promises it takes better photos in low light.
While the Galaxy S7’s screen size is limited to 5.1 inches, that of S7 Edge is 5.5 inches. The S7 Edge also boasts of curved edges.
Galaxy S7 now comes with two curved edges, just like in Samsung Note 5. It makes it far easier to hold the phone without slipping.
In terms of hardware, the two phones are quite similar to one another.
Both run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow software and sport Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.
The screens are as awesome as ever and boasts of a Quad HD (2,560X1,440) resolution. A new feature is that it lets you view widgets on the screen even when the phone is in sleep mode. Instead of draining the battery, it actually helps conserve it.
Both phones operate on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB RAM.
The batteries, as usual, are non-removable, but they're bigger — 3,000mAh for S7 and 3,600mAh for S7 Edge. Both phones support fast charging and fast wireless charging.
Some people may feel nothing much has changed in terms of the phone’s looks, but what they should understand is that Samsung has packed in features without compromising on looks.
Though the prices for the new range of phones have not been announced yet, it is expected to be released worldwide on March 11.
Samsung has just upped the ante in the war of the smartphones and us, the customers, are feeling the love.
