Qatari Ministry recalls Samsung’s latest Galaxy Note 7 phones
If you are one of those people who proudly showed off the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones, then you may not be smiling right now.
Reports had been coming in from various parts of the world about the Note 7 bursting into flames owing to a faulty battery design. As a result, the South Korean technology giant recalled millions of Note 7 phones, the biggest such action in history.
And now, Qatar’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce has also announced the recall of the faulty phone from shop shelves.
The Ministry explained that this measure, in cooperation with the Samsung Electronics, comes with the view of protection of consumer rights.
The Ministry is coordinating with Samsung Electronics’ agent to stop the sale and use of the device. It also called on all citizens and residents who purchased the device to contact the Agent and distributors to replace the device or refund the value paid.
The company's agent can be contacted on 8002255, the Ministry said.
Things take time in good ol' Qatar.
