Qatar is taking part in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World 2019 event currently underway in Budapest, Hungary.

The leading global tech platform brings together governments, regulators, digital start-ups, key Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry players, consultants, and experts from markets around the world.

The event serves as a global platform for high-level debate, networking, showcasing innovation and sharing expertise across the ICT community.

A high-level delegation led by Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) president Mohamed Ali Al Mannai is representing Qatar at the ITU Telecom World 2019.

The event is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations' specialized agency for ICTs. The theme of this year's event is: "Innovating together: connectivity that matters."

The ITU Telecom World is an annual event seeking to immediately deliver economic development and social good. It includes a high-level forum, international exhibition for digital solutions, and awards program.

Moreover, the event includes ministerial roundtables and several forum sessions that cover different topics such as the role of government in 5G and high-capacity network deployment, expanding access with new radio technologies, ‘Regulatory dialogue: spectrum challenges ahead of World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19)’, and ‘Digital integrity: values and principles of the digital future.'

On the sidelines of the event, Al Mannai met with the ITU secretary-general Houlin Zhao and delivered to him a formal invitation on behalf of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti to attend Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (Qitcom 2019).

The two officials also discussed ways to enhance collaboration and coordination between CRA and ITU toward the development of the ICT sector.

The ITU Telecom World 2020 will take place from September 6 to 9 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

ITU was founded in 1865 to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks.

The agency allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strives to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.
