Forgot where you left your Android phone? Find it and ring it, all via Google search!
We’ve all been there and have done that — forget a phone somewhere and for the life of us, not remember!
But now, Google and Android is making it all the more easier for us to locate misplaced mobile devices.
While Android Device Manager already exists to help find lost phones and tablets, just getting to your account's ADM menu often requires a search of its own.
But Find My Phone is as simple as a web query. Simply open a Google omnibox (www.google.com) and type ‘find my phone’ to display a map that reveals the phone’s current resting place.
If the device is nearby, you can also opt to ring your cell. But unfortunately, Find My Phone does not allow you to lock or erase your device should it be stolen. For that, you will still need Android Device Manager to do that.
So the next time your mother, wife, son or husband screams at you for misplacing their phone, head to the nearest desktop and ring the phone, like a boss!
Oh my ghaaad i just did, all data saved in my phone got deleted :( except the memory card.
Sounds very similar to 'Find iPhone' which has been on Apple phone / ipads / macbooks for years with the added benefit you can lock the phone and erase it too.
All very scary.. Big brother is here and tracking us all..
