A number of Filipino actors including former players of PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) will be battling it out on the hard court against Doha-based Filipino players during the Filipino community event to be held at the Al Attiyah Sports Arena on July 8.

The event titled 'Filipino Community Celebrates Eid al Fitr', is a day-long gathering which will feature several activities and will conclude with a friendly basketball game and a 'meet and greet the stars' programme.

The line-up of celebrities from Manila includes actors Joko Diaz, Jomari Yllana, Carlos Agassi, Jason Abalos, Rocco Nacino and Onyok Velasco. They will be accompanied by former PBA players Marlou Aquino who played for Sta Lucia Realtors and Ginebra, Chester Tolomia of Coca Cola, Magnolia and Ginebra and Jamelle Cornley of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Filipina celebrities Sam Pinto and Diana Meneses are also coming to Doha for the event.

According to the organisers, besides keeping Filipinos entertained during the holidays, the event is also aimed at raising funds for charity. A portion of the proceeds of the activity would be donated to the Philippine School Doha (PSD) for the construction of its new building and to a charity based in Manila.

The day-long affair would showcase fun games for children and adults, live entertainment by celebrities and some local acts and a food fair.
