El Jaish set up Qatar Cup final with Lekhwiya

El Jaish will meet champions Lekhwiya in the Qatar Cup title clash, in a repeat of last year’s final, on Friday.

In the second semifinal, Jaish defeated Al Sadd 3-2. Baghdad Bounedjgah scored an own goal to gift Jaish the lead in the 32nd minute while Hassan Al Haidous equalised three minutes later.

Romarinho (55th) and Abderrazak Hamdallah (72nd) then gave a two-goal lead for the Armymen. Though Iranian defender Morteza Pouraliganji headed from a Xavi Hernandez corner to pull one back in the 87th, Jaish stood firm and trooped out winners.

Lekhwiya had defeated Qatar Stars League champions Al Rayyan 3-2 in the first semifinal on Sunday.
