Chad le Clos, Katinka Hosszu back to create ripples in Doha
The swimming world will return to Doha once more as the Middle East’s sports capital hosts the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup for the fifth consecutive time.
The competition, which runs on October 8 and 9, will be held at the Hamad Aquatic Centre.
The FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup will see some of the greatest athletes on earth in action, many of whom will be energised by their new-found glory in the pools of Rio during the 2016 Olympic Games.
Spectators can expect lightning fast times, more world records, and incredible action over two days. Two of Doha’s favorites — Katinka Hosszu and Chad Le Clos — will once again return.
South Africa’s Le Clos, 24, dubbed the ‘golden boy,’ will head to Doha after winning two Olympic silver medals in Rio 2016 in 200M freestyle and 100M butterfly. He has had a fantastic track record in Doha and he will be keen to extend the winning streak.
Hungarian swimming superstar Katinka Hosszu — arguably one of the most talented swimmers in history — will also be present in Doha. Dubbed the ‘Iron Lady’ thanks to her unstoppable stamina and appetite for competition, the 27-year-old displayed amazing performances in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
She devastated the competition and snagged three gold medals in 400M, 200M individual medley and 100M backstroke.
Tickets for the competition are available through Q-tickets.com and prices are set at QR20 per person per session.
