DOHA: For the fifth time in a row, Aspire Zone Foundation will organise the Torch Staircase Run, which challenges participants to sprint up the iconic The Torch Doha hotel in a race against time. This year’s competition will be organised in honour of the Earth Hour.

Runners will have to scale 1,304 steps and reach the 51st floor of the 300M Torch Doha Hotel.

While the race is open to all participants 16 years and older, they are encouraged to undertake intensive training prior to the race.

Only 400 runners will get a chance to race up the Torch. So register here or be left out: https://a1registration.net/event/aspire-torch-staircase-run-2016-earth-hour-edition

The race will be organised in six categories: Open Male, Open Female (both 18-39yrs old), Veteran Male, veteran female (40+) and Junior boys and Junior girls (16-17yrs).

The Open Waiter/Waitress Challenge (closed category for Waiter/Waitresses only) is a timed race which encourages them to race up the Torch with a tray of beverages in hand. Entry to this race is by invitation only through AL Hospitality.

The ‘Go Green’ Fun Earth Hour themed costume competition (for 16 years and older) encourages runners to dress in any recycled material. The best costume wins a prize!

During the earth hour initiative, the Torch Doha will turn off all external lights. Once the lights are off, participants will enjoy night-glow bike rides starting from the Torch and gravel around Aspire Zone.

The activities will start at 5pm and run until 8pm.
