Women Who Refuse to Die

We follow four survivors of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre as they look to the future despite the pain of their past.

When they took away my children in 1995, they also killed me - in the most brutal manner. This is not life .... I had my family and in just one day I'm left without them, without knowing why. And every morning I ask myself why, but there is no answer. My children were only guilty of having the names they had and their names were different from their killers. It was not only my children killed on July 11, 1995; thousands of other innocent children were murdered in the bloody genocide in Srebrenica .... I no longer have anything to lose; the criminals killed all I had, except for my pride."

Hatidza Mehmedovic

In July 1995, an estimated 8,000 Muslim men and boys - sons, husbands and brothers - were dragged away never to be seen again.

The Srebrenica massacre marks a particularly inhumane and brutal act within the tragedy and bloodshed of the 1992 to 1995 Bosnian War.

This film follows four survivors of the massacre as they look to the future despite the pain of their loss and the angst of trying to make sense of the past.

Not the first massacre... won't be the last either. It's the classic battle to exercise power. If only "exorcising" power becomes the objective.

Saladin is a man that does not know history. He is a man who advocates violence to prove Islam's supremacy. A sad, sad man

Tragic. And it's ridiculous for those who blame the "West" for this. I blame the people who took them away and massacred them. And let's remember this was preceded by Bosnian-Muslims' massacre of Bosnian Serb civilians at Kravica. And followed by further retaliations against Bosnian Serb civilians at other sites.

Civil wars are the worst kinds of wars, because it is the innocent civilians on both sides that pay the heaviest price.

SalahDin--your comments represent the worst of humanity and enlighten us all in how the circle of unnecessary violence continues.

But Thank God for all those who intervened and ended it. They are indeed praiseworthy. The pain the survivors wen't through was truly harrowing and hearing their stories are always heartbreaking.

The enemy will pay? Sounds like a call to violence so I'm sure you didn't mean that.

I know that their Arabic goverment , but at least they send 500 hundered mujihad to fight but, that was not engough compare to 1.6 billion muslims in the world. The United nothing , which call themselfs United nation , did not interfer until they saw , alot of muslims brothers going jihad against the crusders . But do you know something , Alot of bosinan muslims who were muslims by names , asked why have been mascard , they start searching for islam , and became a good muslims, Just like the two americans boys who became muslims because of Geroge W. Bush insulting islam.

The west and Russia do not care about muslims anywhere look boroma , The western orgniaztion who protasted against what happend in North afica because of histroical buildings and tombs , and called it a war crime did not do nothing>

but hey muslims blood became cheap thses days , look to Crusader in iraq more than 2 million killed , afghanistan , and many other Syria .

All this mean something , it means that islam is returning stronger than before , and they day that the enemy of islam will pay is coming

Thank god NATO intervened to stop this massacre while the rest of the world watched. Again at the time the Russians protested about military action.
