Who said child Abuse is Common in ME?

The west has entire government departments and annual funding devoted to
These issues.
Since The Arab/ Muslim world loves to copy-cat everything that the West does then why not also this one?
How come in a predominantly Muslim world where people spend half of their loves sleeping and the other half praying to Allah be so oblivious ,sometimes even reckless with their neglect of child abuse cases and that baby in the frying pan from Egypt is one recent example of that.. His photo is being circulated, tagged, commented on, and laughed at, all over Egyptian FB social/political forums. WTG !

Such action is a shame mark on the face of any civilization--- something incomprehensible to
Most Middle Eastern minds who would deny such a thing exists in their very backyard quick to find things, to cover up what is and point finger pointing at the West is pretty much all they do cover up what is
Untidy and too nasty for the middle-East to admit

Some are silly, some funny, some worrying..

I'm sure that not one of these parents would consider it abuse ...

We all have funny pics of our children, but we wouldn't publicise them nor would we push things too far like the child with the axe.

LOL Fatima! You just gave me an idea for his first Halloween! ;)

As woman and a mom I find those images very very cruel. But I've always been oversensitive when it comes to kids!

"They'd probably say I was raising a terrorist" Nah..what you described is a Sheikh, to be called a terrorist you'd need to also attach a fake beard..the darker the better! ROFL

Does anyone else remember this photographer's exhibition?

She gave candy to babies, then took it away, and then photographed the crying kids. Pointless and cruel, in my opinion, but I have old school ideas about art.

We took a picture of my baby the other weekend sound asleep with a friends guttrah on his head and a shisha pipe in his hand (it was just an ornamental one). I'm sure I would have made the Daily Fail for that pic. They'd probably say I was raising a terrorist. ;p

Those pics are truly the pits(except for the lobster suit..I agree with MM there) Guess procreating should be made illegal for some people!

By snessy• 17 May 2012 13:19

Although, I think most of them are borderline child abuse, I do think the lobster one is funny.

More than a little disturbing.

The kid with the Nazi shirt unfortunately has hateful parents. But I really see nothing wrong with the lobster suit and pot. It's obviously part of a Halloween costume, because the person holding it is wearing a chef's outfit.

I dunno abt rest of ME, but alot is being done here in Qatar.

A special authority is formed under Qatar Foundation to tackle the issues of Women and Child Abuse.

Ew! Thhose were quite disturbing photos Khannan!

But you know what Kanan, thing is In the West there are entire organizations governmental departments dedicated to figthing such crazy people and they recognize and try to prevent child abuse. When it happens, the

perpetrators are punished. Unlike in the middle-East where there are no child rights and child protection organizations to stand up for the abused children.

There was actually an article in today's National calling for stricter penalties for abusers:

http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/harsher-penalties-for-abusers-a-must

I think the major issue is that for many people domestic abuse and child abuse is a "family issue"

That's a stigma we've been fighting for decades in the West, and sadly still making little headway. :(
