Hello,

I'm moving to Doha in June and was hoping someone could enlighten me as to where I can meet other expats of a similar age and can show me the ropes!

Thanks,

Rachael, 25

Hi Rachel... I too am moving to Doha in June and one of the things i had in mind is making new friends... a new place with no friends can become extremely boring... i too hope to meet and make some friends there... maybe we could look for some friends with the aim of having a good time there... let me know when u get in and maybe we could catch up...

cheers

you have already picked up a stalker I see...

Beware of those.

Qatar is lovely, however don't come thinking you are going to have a fantastic nightlife. I can guarentee you will be totally disappointed.

The clubs here are filled with lecherous men who like to pray on the +- 40 women that are in the club - 30 of those are prostitutes, so they lechers cannot tell the difference between the genuine ladies and the ladies of the night.

Do come with an open mind and be ready to make your own adventures, cause thats what Qatar is all about:-)

A night out, will cost you about 100pounds, depending on how much you drink and what you drink. That'll include dinner and your taxi - which are easy to find outside of the hotels, which is where all of the nightclubs and bars are, so no fear there.

Rachael,

Moving there myself the end of May. Know a few people and have been a few times before having lived in Dubai and the Rugby club is always full of expats on weekends. Usually a good atmosphere.......and ofcourse cheaper drinks than anywhere else :)

Start of June. :)

How much does a night out usually cost including taxis etc?

I'm still unsure of what to expect from living in Doha. I'm quite out going - am I in for a shock?

You looking to meet fun expatriates?? Plural???

Boy aren't you an optimist.

Anyway QL is full of creeps so don't take everyone on face value here. Come to Doha and settle down first, if you can't find fun expats in a month's time then you can post here again.. It is not so hard to meet people here...
