Heartsbeat, the same things could be said about EVERY job. I would PREFER to sleep in late, get up at my leisure and read a good book all day. However, if I want to continue to do things like pay rent and eat, I get up early, go to work and collect a paycheck. Does that make me a slave? No. It makes me EMPLOYED. Each position has its own responsibilities and you knew (or should have) what you were getting in to when you signed your contract.

i agreeeed with u slaves are not paid........

but what will happen if u leave ur job with ur willness

ur master will award u a ban for 2 years in doha qatar !!!

and if once we move ahead we should not go back.......

i dream .......will be fly one day nd i will

heartsbeat: I think you are overstating the issue for dramatic effect. You want to talk slavery, we can talk slavery. But generally speaking, a slave does not get paid a living wage for work and cannot quit. You can leave your job any time you want to and leave the country. If you stay here and stay in your position, this is your choice. And it is a choice a slave does not have.

we are safe every where when we take a step in our practical life

choices are our own no one can force us to go on a wrong path

well traffic is always fast like

if there is more population then the music in the society is also fast.......

The things I:

Love about Qatar...

-that every Qatari family owns at least one white Toyota Land Cruiser (with beige graphics)and or Lexus

-that in our office building the fire alarm was set off by the bukhour

-when i see a 5 year old on a blackberry bold smsing his friends

-the villagio shopping mall has VIP restrooms

-souk waqif

Hate about Qatar...

-dust

-intersections with a round-about, stop lights and traffic control (all at the same time)

-the "earth's magma" hot weather in the summer

giggle...giggle...giggle...

By heartsbeat• 29 Mar 2010 09:05

actually im not here for making a money

life is not only based to earn money

but its a true fact we are working like a slave

even u have a excellent opportunity for ur future

but u still bounded to ur sponcer, if u r here then u shud

stop dreaming for ur future life cz u r totally rely on ur owner if he like he will keep u if he has no work u have to go back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the feeling of being safe and secure, going out and not having to worry about whether you have locked the door or not, because you know it will be fine. The driving here is the only thing I hate, everyone is in such a hurry, whats all that about?

By Khawaga• 29 Mar 2010 08:59

Love: Departure Lounge at Doha International Airport, the feeling of safety and the variety of nationalities I met and socialize with, Ed Hardy :)

Hate: The heat in the summer months, the way people drive and disrespect traffic rules, the lack of respect for and acceptance of pets, the (true) stories of labour exploitation and househelp abuse... (I could go on and on).

There are many more but I don't feel like writing a book online tonight ;)

so far peace is the only thing likable here. Gas and food is some what cheap but they sure take it out on you through rents and quality of accomodation. Ferraris and borches are common but its not like you will get to have them. Not to mention the ridiculuosly high cost of traffic violation and electricity prices. What about the way Qataris treat expats and the tough sponsorship laws. Also, haven't seen a fun place to visit yet. The view of tall buildings gets old. But this is Qatar and I love it.
