Virtue of Chastity (Virginity), does it still exist?

azilana7037
By azilana7037

Due to the prohibitions of sexual intimacy outside of marriage in Abrahamic religions deriving from the Ten Commandments and Mosaic law, the term has become closely associated with premarital sexual abstinence in Western culture;

However, in the context of religion, the term remains applicable to persons in all states, single or married, clerical or lay, and has implications beyond sexual temperance.

Chastity and abstinence when dating are not the same! Abstinence simply means saying "no" to sex when dating! Those who practice chastity are deemed to be “virgins...

My question is...at these present times, are there really "virgins" (for both sexes)out there?

virginity is a state of mind...i dont think there are people above the age of twelve who doesnt think about sex and doesnt have impure thoughts...being chaste and pure (meaning being a virgin) is not limited to the physical aspect..

besides a woman who has not been touched by a man yet doesnt make her better than the rest of us who has been enjoying ourselves outside wedlock...and for men who hasnt touched a woman yet, well u better start practicing soon!

Nothing new there.

Anal sex is the oldest form of contraception there is.

To use it to appear a virgin is more than a bit silly, especially if the lady is receiving no pleasure from it.

You got it all right man , and also somethign else , anal sex also is very practiced ( which by the way i find it the most degrading act )to keep this damn hymen , what a hypocrisy .

What drive me crazy is when people say that a girl who has her hymen unbroken is virgin , that's not true , a virgin is the one who has never been touched by men , never been kissed , so to answer you aziliana , no there isn't any virgin .

Happy hamping to all , and don't forget Durex aalways protect yourself

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong

Dear All,

I guess I was speaking to Muslim members. I argue them not to change Qatar into another country.

If Qataries' (and other human beings) changed their focus to Allah, everything will be changed. They would not drive fast, they would not be psychologically burnt, they would not borrow money from banks to buy luxerious stuff, ...

So you saying bbskiu that if there were no coed places that women (and presumably men) would stop buying magazines??

I personally think sales of Playboy would sky rocket.

To make it more clear here is some explanation.

Maybe not all co-ed places are made for intentional harm. However, be careful.

Some people might make co-ed places so that young people fall in love with each other & focus on a lover (not focusing on what the leaders do).

SOme females would buy lots of make-up, dresses, magazines that have information about dating in order to look attractive for a man.

Magazines are made of trees.

Let's minimize co-ed places. Please, please, please. An American newspaper mentioned that in the West people suffered from co-ed places.

Let's make sure people are not focusing on sex, food & money.

We do not need to kill our time on Earth for sex, food, & making money.

A little house is enough, some dates & water is enough,

Doing that is better than sorry. :)

I hope Allah make both of them patient.

As I know, if the hymen is torn or broken due to sports or occupations, the doctors could proof that.

It is important for men to make medical screening test before getting married. You also could ask about the behavior of the groom before accepting him as a husband (i.e. does he drink, smoke, commit fornication, adsultry, or sodomy, have female friends, his school grades, his attendace to a masjid, his social life,

People thinking and belief depends upon the culture, the way they are raised.

In some conservative regions, VIRGINITY exist; because of what they believe that if they are not virgin anymore, something wrong will happen to them or in their future marriage, in short, they are afraid of something which might happen to them.

But i still wish, that youngster will value not their virginity but their DIGNITY..

Difficult subject for me as the father of a much loved teenage daughter.

Would I be happier if she found her perfect mate and dadicated her life to him.

Or would I be happier with her going out in the world experiencing all aspects of life and becoming a wise experienced old woman.

The enphasis being on the ALL aspects of life.

I think the latter though it hurts me to say so.

I just thought i'd throw my two cents in here (just remember that this is all just imho):

Abstinence until marriage may have pros and cons, but the one thing I think is pretty obvious is what Gypsy was pointing out. It is completely artificial. Wether it was imposed to enslave women, and by whom, are also very interesting questions, but I think best saved for another thread. What is clear though is that this is not present anywhere else in nature, it is not common to ALL cultures, and it's not even common throughout a culture's entire history (in the case of cultures that do practice it).

I guess my main beef is not with whether a culture practices it or not, but the manner in which is does so. Imposing this standard on the unwilling is not cool, nor is applying it hypoctritically or selectively. What i'm referring to here is the double standard in some cultures, that all young brides MUST be virgins, but a young husband doesn't have to be (I mean is it just me? or do you wonder who these young men are having sex with, if all the young women are virgins? shudder).

I have no problems with those who chose to remain chaste until marriage...just as I have no problem with those who choose not to. It's a personal choice, and I respect it when it is freely chosen.

Of course your mileage may vary so to speak. Be safe all.

Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

People who can impose discipline and patience on themselves... therefore it is a choice.

Like other choices that we make, we must take the consequences.

Is it still important that you remain untouched until you get married? I guess for some culture, it is a must or face humiliation.

The most important thing is the love and respect that you give to your partner NOW.

I agree with Shafvb. In the famous words of the Ying Yang Twins, "I'd beat that cat with a dog." Sometimes I'm too busy to date so it's good to have a close friend for a booty call. Has nothing to do with dignity. Unless your selling tha booty. Do what makes you feel good. Some women enjoy getting cracked open by multiple dudes. If they like that, good on em.

Hello, the term "virgin" as far as i understand it , from an English point of view, basically means a woman whose Hymen is unbroken.HOWEVER, the Hymen can break during certain sports.
