Twestival is coming to Doha

On February 12th Twestival mania is going to hit over 180 cities worldwide and Doha is joining in the fun.

Twestival was born on micro-blogging community Twitter and the idea behind it is to bring together local communities, using the power of Twitter, for a fun evening while raising money for charity. Last week a few members of the Qatar Twitter community decided that Doha shouldn't be left out and Twestival Doha was born.
It has been a busy week setting up things at the last minute but we've managed to put together a fairly decent event. Here are the details:

The event is totally free and is open to anyone who might have an interest and wants to meet new people - all while raising some money for charity. Don't worry if you have never heard of Twitter, come along and we can show you what it is and even set you up and get you started if you're interested.

Sandwiches, muffins, tea and coffee will be provided as well as free Wifi and loads of electrical sockets so that you can get online as well. We'll be holding a charity raffle on the day with some great prizes donated by our sponsors and all proceeds going to Charity:Water. We'll also be connecting with some of the other Twestival events that are happening in 180+ cities around the world on the same day.

This will be the first Twitter event of its kind in Doha and we couldn't have done it without some help from our sponsors. 1000 Heads are the main sponsors of the Doha Twestival and it is thanks to them that we are able to run the event for free so that any money spent on the day will go straight to charity. Qatar Living are our second sponsors, who need no introduction, and have pledged to help raise awareness for the event here on this community as well as donate some prizes for the Charity Raffle. Our third sponsor is local tourist company Black Pearl who have donated a Sand Dune Adventure trip to Sealine for 4 people as the main prize for our raffle.

So there we have it, Twestival Doha is all set up and ready to go. You can let us know you're coming by joining our event page on Facebbok or just drop by. I look forward to meeting you all at Court Cafe.
