The grass & the farms... to grow grass in the desert is not easy... its like doing the impossible...

With proper planning and application they have done it.

Got me thinking.... OMG...If they can do farming here I can do better back home...

I have set a goal to buy a 5 acre property to retire into... do diary farming, poultry farming, etc...

*Qatar being an Islamic governed country gives me the freedom to practice my religion without the fear of harassment and discrimination.

*The incredible generosity and helpful nature of many locals.

*The amazing cultural diversity. Thanks to this I have today a truly international circle of friends, and have learned so much from them all.

*Things that we considered luxury items back from where I come from is actually essentials here!

*The large choice of all my most loved products.

*Cheap petrol and gas.

*The malls!

- Looking out the window, seeing many areas of beautiful green grass and trees, despite the fact that we live in a desert!

- Admiring the growing number of high rise buildings that are built on the sand, but yet they don't fall over!

- Driving each day through Doha and watching how some Land Cruisers can fit in gaps in the traffic that only a Tiida should be able to squeeze into!

These are just a few of the inspiring things here in Qatar!

The most inspiring thing about Qatar is it's multi-culture environment. I met most fair minded & ethical people of different races who fought together to maintain the dignity of their profession. All of them have left Qatar now. Thanks to the wasta system.

Positives –

-Native Qataris are gentlemen, generally

-Peaceful life

-Sense of safety

-Placed at centre of world-easy to travel around

-Rare opportunity to see so many nationalities/culture/people around, working-living togather

Negatives – some other day :):)

It is peaceful.

It is small country hence involvement in various opportunities is easy.

It is not police country like america where immediately someone will say hands up or put your head down so often..

It has job security so far ( In my company )

I am not married but have plan to get marry and grow my kids here.

There is racism but you can easily deal with it.

As long as I dont violate laws this country is more safer than my native place.

Yeah we know all about the negative side as we harp about it on here almost daily.

family day, NOC, sponsorship system, mistreated maids, poorly paid workers, horrible accidents, bad drivers, and the loose and confusing laws.

That said this thread ain’t about any of that, it’s about the positive things you have seen in Qatar.
