I watched that movie last week in Gulf Cinema...Amazing thing is that only a handfull of peoples were there to see that movie...I don't know still that movie is playing there or not...
boy (fully covered with human shit) manage to get the autograph of Amitabh and felt really bad when his brother cheated and sold that snap for 2 rupees.
These young boys and girl are amazing and real characters picked from slums.
Believe me, these are real scenario and life-style of the people from Dharavi (the biggest slum of Asia), very close to Bandra (west), the posh area of Bombay, where all big cine-celebrity lives.
The movie really deserves all accolades and awards...Golden globe (8), BAFTA (7) and next is OSCARS....wait till 22 Feb.
and a very touching one at that...Shows the underbelly of the 'City of Dreams' - Mumbai. I'am keeping my fingers crossed. This one is a warhorse from the Indian stable.

~~Life's Cycle~~~
Gulf cinema is not a very popular/adviseable, the movie should be released in some mall's cinema hall for real-fun.
I watched that movie last week in Gulf Cinema...Amazing thing is that only a handfull of peoples were there to see that movie...I don't know still that movie is playing there or not...
The little kids dancing at the end of the film was awesome!
I am in Qatar next week and want to watch it
PLease can you suggest a good cinema
Cheers
mj I know, but I still think you should get thee to a theater. You can keep the dvd for when you want to re-watch it :-)
i've already got a dvd copy, just haven't found the time to watch it yet... :)
mj, go see it at the theater while it's still here. The cinematography is amazing, don't think the small screen can do it justice.
boy (fully covered with human shit) manage to get the autograph of Amitabh and felt really bad when his brother cheated and sold that snap for 2 rupees.
These young boys and girl are amazing and real characters picked from slums.

pardon me too for my harsh comments.. heheheheh...
hi-jack...
Please watch the musical play GREASE... at American School on Feb 12-14 ang 19-21.
See you there..
Just a personal opinion. As I said, the child actors were superb, but others, were OK.
In the Cinematography category, it is up against Benjamin Button and Dark Knight.
It might have a chance in the Directing category.. let's see.
the absence of light .. is it darkness.?
It is really a good movie.
The absence of War does not mean Peace,
The absence of Noise, does not mean Silence.
on my laptop as borrowed from my friend.. watched it already.. twice..
i have dvd copy since Jan. 16 :D
but haven't found the time to watch it yet...
Super movie ........
I saw twice ........... want watch more ………..
Its super ……
In my opinion, the child actors stole the movie. They were amazing! Much like the child actors in the movie Babel, they were the real stars.
It is definitely a big screen worthy film.
Thumbs Way UP!!
britexpat...if it is not an Oscar material it will not win the Golden Globe. isn't it?
What is the criteria then for you for the film to be an Oscar material?
I guess you are one of the panel then...
peace...
A good , fun film. Jamal is great , especially as a youngster when the mother passes away.
Oscar material - I don't think so!
it's a gr8 movie... i like the scene when the guy takes the autograph of amitabh bachan.....

Simple story full of "goodness" and hope. Should win something at the oscars..
Critiques from SAG named Slumdog Millionaire as the best movie.
Oscar is getting nearer!!!

...
Saw it last night.Excellent! I want to see it again! Glad I got to see it in a theater. The cinematography is amazing!
it from my friend. And did not return to him yet. eheheh
I love Frieda. She is striking.
The movie is so natural as well as actors and scenes.
looks like inspiring story huh. ill watch it later.
" In my opinion only. . . nothing personal"
pinoyaccountant ....yeah...me too watched it ..twice :)
LifeisBeautiful ...the Director was British. And it was a Director's movie...all the way.
and a very touching one at that...Shows the underbelly of the 'City of Dreams' - Mumbai. I'am keeping my fingers crossed. This one is a warhorse from the Indian stable.
Life is Beautiful...Indeed!
Yeah, you are right. But I still wish and pray that it will win an Oscar as it did in Golden Globe.
Music is amazing.
The story moved me in some ways.
Actually, I watched it already 2 times since Thursday. lol
pinoyaccountant...would that make any difference...
A good movie ...is a good movie ...
Does a good movie become great ...after it wins an Oscar?
I dont think so.
There will always a lot of good movies all over the world, but only few win Oscars. So let it be.
Its was really interesting to see how some events in the guy's life turn out to be the answers to the Questions!!!
And I guess what made it more interesting was the unfriendly host of the game-show who was making fun of him, and even slipped him a wrong answer.
