Seat belts for rear seats?

A very good initiative by the Trafic General to introduce a theoretical test which will give drivers the importance of Seat belts, air bag protection, safety of children in the vehicles, driving in different conditions like rain, fog and wind and driving at night and the risks involved in using mobile phones and other things that distract the driver.
I suggest the Traffic Department authorities to make it mandatory to wear seatbelts for the rear passengers also which will decrease the number of fatalities in times of accidents. Wearing a seat belt can reduce the severity of injuries when sitting in rear seats. The major cause of car occupant fatalities in car accidents is head injuries when they collide with the car seat or dashboard.. Many parts of the world mostly developed countries comply with this requirement and the result is lesser fatalities.
Public should be educated about the need to wear seat belts in front seats as well as rear. If a person does not wear his or her seat belt during a crash, that particular person could be thrown from his or her vehicle; through the windshield or door into poles, or run over by your own or someone else’s car.
I do understand that the above information is disturbing to read and even imagine but this is the ugly truth!!!
Just because the law doesnt ask to wear the seatbelts for rear seats, no one wears it....
Request the authorities to show videos of crashes with seatbelts and without it.... not everyone has the information until something similar happens to him/her.
Heaven can Wait...... Belt up.
Have a safe Drive,
Thanks,
Life Rockzzzz
I agree always better safe than sorry :)
The above seems logical and reasonable
For all those people who think that sitting in the back seat without seatbelt is absolutely fine, I request them to watch the video I have posted from Youtube...... The link is there on the top..... please comment if u still feel that seat belts are not required in the back seat..... I will pray for you.....
many times, crashes happen because of the negligence of other drivers..... coz as some1 says, the streets are full of idiots..... so in such circumstances, where even though u may be the best of best driver of this country, u just cant avoid a crash.... nd the ppl who is not wearing a seatbelt would be on the unlucky side!!!!
Guys,... just belt up anywhere,... unless you have a big stomach,... :)
Prevention is better than cure..cheers!
Yes I must admit the way I put it seemed a bit wacky, but what I meant to say was even if there was one case, it means there is still a chance hence we have to be careful. Actually the only reason I responded here was because I actually knew these people.. Their deaths were shocking and painful. And to think such disasters can be avoided simply by wearing a seatbelt..
Regardless of the numbers, considering at least the cases we know of personally, it's easy to conclude that both the front and back seats are potentially dangerous when traveling in any vehicle, and wearing belts can at least minimize the danger. Like I mentioned I know first hand of at least 3 cases, so I can never think otherwise. But yes I think I understand what you are implying as well.
Wa-Salaam!
Same is true with airplanes ..
Back seat zone 'is' safer than front .. comparatively.
Salaam, Only traffic dept. classified statistics would tell us what they have on record .. going about the recent tourist bus crashes across Europe in the months of Aug. / Sep will prove it false that 'back seats no safer' ..
In fact they can even be more deadlier. I know, top of the mind, of at least three very very tragic accidents, where the drivers of the cars escaped with minor injuries whilst those in the back seats died!
Belting up will help of course..and yes it should be made mandatory for grown ups as well to wear seat belts regardless of where they are seated in the car. Many people focus so much on getting the kids to wear their belts, yet can be very careless about themselves.
I never opposed use of seat belts.
Let me add this board is good for kinder garten kids school area, retirees or old age home or near a city central hospital where none would analyse its wording ..
as to why it's an uphill battle to make motoring safer in this country.
Molten......you are not stupid, so why spread such dangerous tosh?
Back seat 'is' safer than front .. comparatively.
