RPG in Qatar

Ragnarock Raider
By Ragnarock Raider

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum (although i've been in Qatar for a year now). I was just wondering if there are any RPGers here in Doha?
No offense to anyone, but if you have to ask what I mean, then we can be certain it's not addressed to you.

Just to indulge the curious RPG in this case refers to roleplaying games (and NOT rocket propelled grenade launchers!).

Be safe all.

... are you still looking for players ? I have been player and/or dungeon master for the past 9 years and am willing to continue here if anyone is interested!

Pokemon, magic the gathering, and L5R, are all examples of TCCs (trading card games), and while I have indulged in the latter 2 (NEVER POKEMON) in the past, they are not what I was referring to.

Why do you ask Ahmedss? Do you play TCCs?

Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

Who cares for perfection? Perfection is predictable...

Therefore... let the games begin! Imperfection rules!!!

Judging by the (surprising) number of responses to this thread, it may be worth trying to get a meeting set so that we can all meet and get to know one another, and see if its viable to start a group here in Qatar.

Interested parties should feel free to PM me.

Thanks, and be safe all.

3.5 sounds good to me. I've been looking for someone interested in that here in Qatar. I'm 22 years old, I've been playing for around... 6 years?

If you got together a group I would be very happy to try my hand again. Though of course my dice are far away and my books are all pdf at the moment.

Will be going to the Singing Dunes at least if others are coming as well, I agree with ravnos that it would be a good place to start chatting at least.

Upcoming events like Singing Dunes (7.6.) and this Intercon Party (14.6.) might be a good place to have some first chats...

On every overnight tour in the desert I thought... that's where the dices would roll best!

Wow this thread is getting some response, which pleases me. I could easily set up a meet if we had enough people interested.

I have been at this hobby for 20 years now (yes i'm an old schooler), and would be interested in 3.5 the most...having said that, my collection includes most of the material from previous editions, as well as assorted other genres like:

Shadowrun, Earth Dawn, VTM, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Gamma world & Start Frontiers (really old games heh), as well as GURPS and RIFTS...oh heck this post would take forever if I had to list them all. Suffice it to say I have been collecting for 20 years so I have a lot!

Let me know if more are interested.

Be safe all.

I played mostly AD&D, Star Wars and Vampire. Smaller events were Call of Cthulu and Shadowrun.

I have even my dices here... It is fascinating how big eyes can grow when they see 12 and 20 sided dices...

And I'm playing since I was... I forgot...

Would be nice to get something set up!

Well King Edshel, what you are referring to is an MMORPG.

For the laymen, that's Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.

It's close and based on the RPGs I was talking about, so thanks for the response. It's also good to know there ARE MMORPGers in Doha. But the neat thing about those games is they are online, and hence you do not need to all be in the same country. You just play with your friends from all over the world (in WOW...World Of Warcraft...that means 8.5 million users worldwide).

And while those games are fun too, I was actually referring to the precurser of MMORPGs...what is referred to as Table Top RPG (or pen and paper RPG for old schoolers like me). These games require you to get together in the real world to play. So I was wondering if there was anyone who liked and played those games in Qatar.

My first preferrence is for Gamers who live here and are of a certain age group (ie no teenegers for instance....no offense to anyone, but that's just a personal preferrence based on past experience...and a general benchmark for maturity...obviously there ARE mature teenagers around, and those could be exceptions...but i'm getting off topic). Anyhow...beggars can't be choosers, but I just really wasn't into teaching anyone and was hoping to find people who actually have played before and are into this hobby.

But based on what i've researched this past year, i'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for the responses all, and be safe.

is the best for me .. I got all the 3 parts of the game and can't wait for Part 2 and the new expansion to be released soon. Free of charge and the game is very nice, the graphics too are so smooth and cool.

WOW is also a nice one, but i hate to pay while I don't play that much .. payment is not the big issue, the issues is WOW is a real life game .. you gotta play everyday and .. you know .. sometimes you will get lost in the game and spend a good time thinking that you are doing something while you are not ...

Role playing games - hmmm.. sound interesting. heard it before but never participate in one. how many people do you need to get a game going?

p/s: I have a strong preference for the Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher though.

Haha, at least the people on these boards have a sense of humor.

I didn't think there would be any, since I have been searching on RPG game boards for a year now, and no one lives in Qatar =(

Oh well...at least I thank you guys for the laughs =p.

An no Alexa it isn't usually naughty (although I suppose it could be, if one is so inclined).
