Rock Concert

The Peninsula: Massive turnout for rock concert: More than 8,000 rock fans assembled at the Qatar Sports Club to rock with two leading alternative rock bands from the Philippines - Kamikazee and The Dawn for the 'Rakrakan Reload'. The sold-out concert was organised by ABS-CBN Global.

My Question: Where on earth was this advertised? Seems there's stuff reported in the local press every other day that has absolutely no warning (Kite event was another recent example)

QL for a start. Qatar Happening. Marhaba book. Street posters (as per Master Mas). SMS messages. Even word of mouth. The list goes on ...

Nicaq, I read the paper online cos it's quicker, easier, and I don't have to wade though pages of irrelevant adverts.

The link you gave was in the Filipino expatriates in Qatar section, which is why I obviously missed it... and yes, I do like music from other nations.

Besides, it's not just this event ... it's almost EVERY event. Power boat races, Camel Races, Horse Races, The Dhow Race on Saturday - who knew about that one then?

Mods ... I think it's time for a little hard sell to these event organiser to fill your "Advertise Here" Spaces!

Did you Google it first?

the concert & expo event were intensively advertise daily on Qatar Tribune because they're the sponsor publisher. GT & Peninsula published the post-event, that's where you got your info about the event.

Hi guys!

I've been to this concert. I came to know about this through TFC, though I don't watch TV that often. Im not so into rock bands but the idea of Filipino talents coming over to Qatar made me decide to go anyway.

Kamikazee was good (at least, based on the reaction of the crowd) The Dawn was not so, could be because the crowd was expecting more after the Kamikazee and also because they belong to different categories.

There will be another concert by December (or NOvember?) bringing Gary V and another band here in Qatar

every single day (my hubby says I must memorize it as I spend so much time looking at it) and I didn't see anything about a concert. I did see the Filipino expo advertised extensively, but not a concert.

I have always thought that someone should open a proper PR firm here and teach the Qataris how to properly advertise.

as this was intended for Filipinos (OFWs) by the organizers and most of the songs of these bands were in Filipino language so,what concerns them are mostly for Filipinos to see. Well, I agree with you on 'the media absolutely pathetic in this place" but come on,mr.baldrick2dogs,you just can't blame them. At least we can read some english newspapers here. Sorry if I sounded sarcastic, but can't help since this was an event by Filipinos. So, you like to rock huh?Hmmm....don't worry,I'll invite you to the next rock concert. I'll keep you posted my friend.

Baldrick...I really dont know that there was a freaking concert where 8000 people attended...

So I stand with you on this...

And Nicaq...I'm sure people expect to have these concerts advertised and when it is not found and then later they come to know, it is but obvious to feel Oooopsie daiseee...so you could really keep your suggestion of "READING THE NEWSPAPER" and " TRY BUYING THE QR2 Newspaper sometimes so you'll be well-informed" to yourself...cos that seriously didnt sound like an advice for help but rather more a Sarcasm...

The Media is absolutely pathetic in this place and the publicity in this country SUCKS BIG TIME...not many people know bout various happenings unless it is pushed into the light!

So Chill!!!

obviously you don't read newspaper often?I can show you previous issues of newspaper (GT,Peninsula & Qatar Tribune) if you want to know how it has been advertised for days. Btw, ads such as these, are not posted on the website of GT ot Peninsula. So try buying the QR2 newspaper sometimes so that next time you'll be well-informed.Or perhaps, did u try opening this thread--> http://www.qatarliving.com/node/223457.
