Road Respect in Qatar Fact or Myth.....

alien_guest
By alien_guest

Hello People,

I got my Drivers license in Qatar 7 years ago and have been driving a Tida, since then. With the grace of the Lord, i managed to get myself a SUV (KIA Sorento). Its been only 7 days since i bought it, i feel very different on the Road . No Landcruiser flashing no Hoking from the Crazy Tahoe drivers. Other cars give me the way. Its as if people give me Road Respect just because i have a Suv.

Is this really the mentality out here?

By alien_guest• 28 May 2013 12:01

I'll Give you that.... But now i understand why you spoke so strongly against a KIA. I will not contradict you anymore .

Karwa drivers are such a pain in the Arse!

A couple of months ago, a Karwa cabbie rammed into the back of the car that was in line behind me

(Occupied by a smoking gorgeous Australian gal, the best part in the whole thing) :O)

And she rammed into mine! Thank God it was a rented car!

Exactly Thelonius

In Qatar u can pretty much guess the style of driving based on the fact that certain cars attract a certain crowd. In the US it's always been sports car vs. non sports car...here's it's a bit of a wider demographic than that, and I believe i managed to learn them all...but again I took a couple of defensive driving lessons for my benefit.

TTIDA= Indians

High antenna LC= Qatari

Traffic rules abiding LC= MN (: Bless me

By Super Cool• 23 May 2013 13:57

Tiidas r generally associated with certain cultures who prefer to drive in a way that happens to obstruct the flow of traffic in Qatar...more specifically they r known to be notoriously slow drivers who see no harm in cuttin u off just as long as their blinker is on!!! when I see a Tiida I always have my foot ready for a sudden break...with that being said when I see a landcruiser with a high antenna I expect him to pass me on the right side at high speed and plan accordingly....and this is my prespective as a local...when it comes to cars 9 times out of 10 u can judge the driving skill/recklessness ff the driver based on the car itself.

I am driving KIA Picanto for more than 5 years here in Qatar. Besides..Europeans car manufacturers they to compare this KIA to their expensive cars where in fact Europeans are in car manufacturing for more than 80 years! Think of it.
